What a weird season for Fernando Cruz. 16.83 k/9, 2.35 xERA, 1.53 FIP, 1.90 xFIP, one homer allowed in 25.2 IP. Yet he somehow has five losses, a 3.86 ERA, and a .310 BABIP. That's either horrific defense or unbelievably shitty luck.

Was there any talk of the Mets bringing back David Robertson? I thought maybe Ottavino fell off but it looks like he's just been a little unlucky, his K/BB and K/9 are the best of his career but his BABIP is up 70 points from last year.
Kyle Tucker just fouled a ball off his knee. He was down for awhile and tried walking a little but is coming out of the game.
Diekman bails out Ottavino and gets the Mets a much needed win. God bless Mets fans having to watch those two.
I thought it looked more like mid-shin. The Jermaine Dye, although Tucker is probably much better off if he was walking a little.
David Stearns needs to just get rid of Ottavino because Mendoza is just going to keep using him.
First game of the year between the Guards and Royals… Triston McKenzie didn't have it tonight and KC jumped out to a 5-0 lead with their ace on the mound. Cleveland's PBP guy spent two innings talking about how great Seth Lugo has been and what a miracle his career is… and then Cleveland sends him to the showers, tied 5-5.
Bobby Witt hit 2 home runs and was directly responsible for 7 runs scored in the game tonight. Unfortunately for him, the last 3 came in the field and lost the game for Kansas City. With the bases loaded and two out in a tie game, he handled a routine grounder at short and inexplicably tried to race the runner to 2nd base before abandoning that idea at the last second and throwing the ball past the first baseman to clear the bases.
Epic. Skenes struck out Ohtani in his first at bat. This time Ohtani turns around a 100mph to dead center field for a homer.
Just saw that. Anyone saying the sport has gotten less interesting is insane.
Also noting Paxton got cuffed around. I wonder if he's due for a month's rest for a knee or whatever. 7 runs on 45 pitches is not normal.
How many games do they play against each other? I swear this is at least the tenth meeting this season
That's slightly more of a fight than they sometimes put up against them.
Did they apologize to the Yankees for getting them out 3 times? They play against them like they are terrified of doing anything that might displease NY.
What’s wild about it to me is that it just doesn't matter who's on the Twins or what they're doing from a team-building perspective or what philosophy they're emphasizing or anything, it's something about both teams' uniforms and it defies all logic and reason. If it was several years in a row of similar teams losing, then you could say "well, that roster matches up really poorly against them," but the current Twins have nothing to do with, for instance, the Mauer/Morneau/Joe Nathan version. Yet the ineptitude persists.
And Baltimore loses as former Yankee stiff Isiah Kiner-Falefa walks it off against Kimbrel. One of those years.
This random site says they are 129-53 against the Twins since 2000. I believe (but am not sure) that includes the playoffs, where they are... 16-2 against the Twins all time:

So that's a 115 win pace or so over 162. So the Yankees against the Twins across 25 years of different rosters have been just slightly better than the 1998 Yankees. The Twins have been slightly over .500 as a whole during that span. Honestly, it's pretty odd.'

Went to the Orioles-Rays Pride game yesterday. Yandy Diaz hits a leadoff single, and then the Orioles pitchers proceed to retire the next 26 batters, so I was one batter away from a single+perfect game effectively. But Diaz got another single before a strikeout ended the 2-hitter.
The British announcer's call of that play was fantastic.

Not sure where to put this but noticed that Tim Anderson is hitting 195/227/213 this year with zero homers. After hitting 245/286/296 with one homer last year. What happened to this guy? Appears to have completely lost it.
