Andy Brickley's potty mouth
That's a ridiculous term and salary, but they had no choice.

164 goals behind Gretzky. Needs to average ~33 goals a season for the next 5 years to get there. It's going to be close. Scored at a 44 goal pace last season. The missed games due to lockouts and covid may end up being the difference.
Ovechkin will play forever like Jagr, no question. The guy bleeds hockey.

Between here and everywhere.
He’s a piece of crap and I will think very poorly of the Hurricanes if they sign him. As for your broader assertion, as a resident in the Triangle here in NC, I vehemently disagree. Did you mean to say Southie?
I don’t think I’m breaking much ground by stating that the south tends to be a bit more forgiving of racism than some other hockey markets.

Painting with a broad brush there. It was an unnecessary dig. But it got some chuckles I’m sure. Glad to hear the hockey markets in other regions of the country are exempt. We agree that racism sucks and that the player in question is a real P.O.S.

I guess I‘m more interested in your thoughts about Getzlaf on the 4th line. I’ll head back over to that thread.

The AAV is decent but 4-years for a 36 year old is kinda nuts. No escape if he retires or gets bought out.
Realistically it's him vs Reilly and I'll take Reilly at 3 yrs any day.

Some Eichel to Vegas chatter on the TSN broadcast. Vegas traded for Dadonov from Ottawa so the speculation is they're lined up to trade a bunch of wingers.

The Kraken are signing Philip Grubauer.

Wonder if Colorado places a call to camp Tuukka. They always seemed to be mentioned in the annual Rask trade rumors. I know he's said it's Boston or not at all, but there's nothing stopping them from calling.

Brandon Saad signed with STL for 5-years $4.5 million AAV.

Wonder if the teams that lost out on Saad might be end up being DeBrusk destinations.

The Rangers traded a 3rd for Ryan Reaves just so he can beat up Tom Wilson. Wilson is running the Rangers front office just like he broke Jim Rutherford's brain the last couple years with Pittsburgh.

CBJ extended Zach Werenski last night. 6-years, $9.58 AAV.

That's probably a starting point for McAvoy. Elite players seem to be getting $9.5 million or thereabouts this offseason. Makar got $9 million and he's probably the best player that's signed this year but he's the furthest away from free agency and the Avs only bought 2 UFA years. I wouldn't consider Seth Jones elite but he got $9.5 million from Chicago. Not a D, but Point got $9.5 million from Tampa and their no state tax. Werenski comes in a touch north of $9.5 million. McAvoy is a much better player than him.

Wonder if McAvoy would take 8x$10.5 if offered right now.

Just as the Leafs can be pissed about paying a 1st for Foglino then losing him for nothing, the B's lose Kase to them on a buryable 1/1.5M deal.

Bruins best case scenario is this guy signing with a rival for a price that requires them to play him. I hated his game. He was super sheltered starting in the ozone 65% of the time against the weakest possible competition and he bareeeellly had a positive xG. He outperformed his own 5 on 5 xG by 3 goals. Money puck has his shooting talent at 10% below average. So he needs to be protected in deployment and competition, he displays mediocre results despite those advantages and by the eye test he’s about 2steps too slow for the nhl and lazy.

other than that, good signing for the leafs.
