It's that time of the year when the calendar turns to July, the midpoint of the MLB season approaches and - most importantly - it's the time Bobby Bonilla gets paid!

NYM will pay him the annual $1.19M (and will continue to do so till 2035).

Indians will try to stretch their streak to 15 with a bullpen game against Toronto. Scheduled starter Trevor Bauer threw five innings of scoreless relief in Friday's 19-inning marathon

That really sucks, I feel bad for him. Hope it doesn't turn into something more serious.

Nice work if you can get it.

Francona tries to get a third inning out of AA call-up Shawn Morimando, but it backfires when Russell Martin singles with two out and Troy Tulowitzki homers on a 3-1 pitch to give Toronto a 5-3 lead. Indians get one back in the top of the sixth, but leave the bases loaded for the final 2 outs

Indians regain the lead 6-5 in the seventh on a two-out double by Mike Napoli. This is helluva follow-up to last night

edit: and Dondaldson immediately ties it with a HR

The Rangers pitching staff is shot, particularly the pen.
What happened there? Except for a couple of pitchers in one game, the relievers they put up against the Sox stymied them. Is their closer hurt?

Edit: Trying to answer my own question, both Ramos and Jackson pitched much better against the Sox than today, giving up 1 and 0 to the Sox and 7 and 6 to the Rangers. Jackson pitched a bit longer today, Ramos about the same.Only Tolleson pitched well, about the same to both teams.

It's the number of appearances they've had through the season; starting to wear them down. With the traditional Texas heat ahead of them, the Rangers are going to need to beef up an injured rotation

The Cubs do not like playing the Mets, a sweep in the NLCS last year and three straight wins this weekend, 7 in a row now.

The Rangers come to Fenway having lost series to the Yankees and the Twins after beating the Sox. Did their epic defeats of the Sox exhaust them?

This Ft. Bragg game is very cool! I am loving this whole concept and the buildup.

I thought this Urias kid on the Dodgers was supposed to be some skinny wisp of a lefty or something. He isn't, not for a 19 year old.

Oh, and Adrian Gonzalez now has this line for 2016: .278/.352/.385. His power is gone. What a fantastic trade that was for the Sox. Even if they had to give up Punto.

He's also, like Pedroia, grounding into double plays in nearly a quarter of his opportunities this year. If they were doing that together we'd be tearing our hair out.

The Indians are 10-0 against Detroit so far this year. How can I find out the best single-season H2H records (especially in the unbalanced schedule era)?

Here's an attempt
http://bbref.com/pi/shareit/rJDWh

1927 Yankees v Baltimore
1937 pirates v Cincinnati
1945 cubs v Cincinnati

Each team above went 21-1. I found no teams going undefeated in at least 15 games.

Edit: 1993 braves went 13-0 vs the expansion Rockies.

Reds first pitching coach Mark Riggins.
He was replaced by assistant pitching coach Mack Jenkins and former major league pitcher Ted Power moves up from pitching coach at Class AAA Louisville to the assistantship with the Reds.

Olney linked this comment from cincinnatiredsblog, which suggest the new coach should be Powers:

“Pitchers do well at Louisville and then they come up here and they tinker with them, change things, make them do different things,” he said. “Then they fail up here and are sent back to Louisville. Power fixes them and they do well at Triple-A and come back up here and they tinker with them again and they struggle again.”

MLBN just switched to the Rockies-Giants game, and the first shot is Brett Farvre wearing a Giants cap.

WTF

Edit to add: I thought Bochy was one of the best in game managers. Why send Cueto out for the 9th at 100+ pitches and a 4 run lead?

Edit: 4 run lead not game lead.

Scott Boras is whining about Zach Davies getting sent down for a bench bat when he's not even going to be pitching for the next 10 days. Normally, when Boras does his chirping in the press it's not hard to see his angle, but this seems fairly petty. 10 service days/$24k in salary. Why is he making waves here? Adding a bench guy to a team that's been stretched thin isn't a "valued ethic"?

"In this game, performance earns respect," Boras said. "After beating one of the best teams in the National League, he was told he no longer was a member of the team.

"It's disrespect for someone who will be a principal part of the organization for years to come, to add a bench player for 10 days. Not exactly a valued ethic. In this game, teams do not send down starting pitchers who are performing well."

Dylan Bundy pitched 2 1/3 innings for the Orioles in their 14 inning win last night. He gave up 3 hits and walked 2, but all 7 outs came by way of the K.
And Buck Doubleday didn't use his closer in extras on the road til the O's went ahead.

“@CarrieMuskat: Medical staff tending to someone who apparently fell out of bleachers and onto warning track in right center at Wrigley. #Cubs”

I have so many questions. There is a net. How did they miss it?
