Yes, but he’s performing right after being acquired. That’s exciting and likely provides a morale boost.

Schwarber may show up mid august and hit bombs daily, but who knows where the Sox are in the standings by then.
Rizzo has had two good games. You know who else did that? Danny Santana.

Cora needs to preach louder about his whole contact being necessary credo. They can't hear him in the middle and bottom of the lineup.

Not quite the immortal words of legend Shea Hillenbrand, but it does feel like the ship is listing badly, if not full-on sinking yet.
His credo isn’t to make contact it’s to swing at everything.

Does Cora overrate Vaz or is the front office a part of that? I see a guy who sucks as a hitter and does nothing special defensively. But, I know framing data may be a factor, and I have no idea what to make of his receiving skills

Rizzo going to the yankees because Bloom wants to "build" something might be the defining moment that turns this whole season.

I know this.

BUT - you have to admit that the Yankees are probably pretty fired up right now with their new acquisition and that can have an effect on the team.

We would be a lot more excited about Schwarber if he were out there right now.

They've played him WAY too much and he's absolute dogshit now.

Sure, I wish Schwarber was playing tonight.

But the MFYs are emotional voids. They don't get fired up.

You know better than that. I know it's annoying to see Rizzo's in the cereal isle when you hate the Cubs, but come on. He would've been exactly what this team needs.
He can also be a starting pitcher? I am not sure 1B was the biggest hole.

Jesus fucking christ. We get it. Stop saying the same fucking shit every fucking post. I agree with you and am still ready to nominate you as a lurker to ban.

I think they’re using two accounts at once.

Honestly, it's really easy to overrate the backup catcher. I don't disagree that Vaz has been meh, but Plawecki is the definition of a fungible career backup. Vaz is playing because he's still better than the alternatives.

Is there an argument to bringing in Barnes or Whitlock here? This game feels as much like a must win as a game in late july can feel. They

I think you’re probably right but that doesn’t mean plawecki shouldn’t play more then once every 5 days. Vaz has looked awful for a long stretch. He needs more off days

Zero innings from anyone acquired pre-deadline for the Sox and (looking like) two losses, meanwhile Tampa, Toronto, NYY, and Chicago haven’t lost and are getting meaningful contributions from deadline acquisitions. Sadly I feel like that’s going to set the tone for the rest of the season

Rizzo homers again for the Yanks. How about that.

Do not post about Yankee good fortune in Red Sox game threads. It will get you banned.

There are other threads for Yankee trades and Yankee game threads. If you want to comment on those, then find the appropriate thread.

Another terrible pitch in a favorable count. Franco has absolutely destroyed the Red Sox while looking like a 20 year old rookie against everyone else.
