Honestly it feels like a turning point game. Just about every time this club's been asked to answer the bell this year they have. Let's hope they can keep that going.

Or even be excited about
Sure, that's up to everyone's prerogative. The closest I can get myself is the most tepid of optimisms, and that's a stretch in my brightest (which is pretty dim for most folks) of moods which I'm clearly not in. The best case outcome today is Sale looks good, feels good and makes his next rehab start, but I always worry about the setbacks the closer someone gets to returning, especially someone of Sale's import. Like Quint waiting for his rescue from the Indianapolis.

Eovaldi starts are important regardless with the coin flip nature of every other starter right now, but this is a big one. Feels like biggest game of the year thus far.

J.D has crushed Yarbrough in his career and Xander has hit him really well too. If this game doesn’t get them turned around I’m officialy concerned.

"Early on in my youthful explorations of literature, I was drawn to the works of Ernest Hemingway. Not because I liked his spare writing style (i didn’t, and don’t) but because his philosophy of life and what made a heroic one was the perfect balm for a Red Sox fan."

Oh, my, what a wonderful essay.*
Thanks for posting.

We're on pace for 97 wins and we're gonna add Chris Sale and Kyle Schwarber before the month is out. Let's crush some skulls!!!

I know Duran’s numbers aren’t good but I prefer watching him play than Aruiz.

And every at bat (barring the one I saw yesterday when he struck out on 3 pitches) is fun and it feels like he puts up a fight, even if he strikes out a lot.

That is all.

I mostly agree, but i will say, everytime Arauz is up and gets reps on the infield (whatever that position may be) and in the box, he's impressed me. Still just 22 and a switch hitter. I hope he continues to see starts, not always at the expense of Duran mind you.

Also, I think Cora is trying to protect Duran a bit. The strikeouts have been coming at a pretty high clip. Maybe today, Cora sees a good opportunity for Duran to impact the game as a pinch runner. That's one guaranteed way he gets on base and can use his wheels.

cross-posting from Schwarber thread

@PeteAbe
Schwarber said there are only a couple of real ballparks left and that Fenway and Wrigley are two of them and it's special to play at places like that.

@PeteAbe
Schwarber is clearly enthused about first base, saying he several times he'll work his butt off to learn. That's half the battle a lot of times.

@PeteAbe
Schwarber started hitting three weeks ago and has done all he can to simulate game speed to keep his swing crisp

I’m going to be extra pissed if these chumps beat us in the classic Devil Rays uniforms.

Seen a bunch of interviews over time with him. Schwarber is just the real deal. Seems like a really good guy with a great attitude. He'll fit in nicely. Very excited for him and the team.

I know we say it in every thread. But I really wish they would just wear the road grays.

I'm digging the Devil Rays uniforms, especially the hats. Hopefully they'll play more like them.

Great at bat for Devers
