If Bauer murders an Indians reliever this year, no jury will convict. I don't have time to dig into it, but the bullpen ERA after he leaves a game this year is astronomical. This one was mostly on Allen, but I won't be surprised if Otero needs to call his real estate agent during the All-Star break.

Multiple reports on twitter saying Tito told Carl Willis to call the bullpen for OP, Oliver Perez, to face Votto. Willis thought he heard OT, meaning Dan Otero. So the wrong guy entered the game. That's.... a problem.

It was definitely a strange time to use Otero, who has always been more of a 7th inning guy for the Indians even at his best, and I don't think the pen has been overworked recently, so there should have been other options.

In that same Astros game, Ken Giles came in to try to protect a 4 run lead in the 9th, gave up 3 hardhit base hits in a row to start the inning, and then told AJ Hinch "fuck you man" when he pulled him.

And Ken Giles is sent to AAA, first time he’s been in the minors since before debuting with PHI in 2014.

Jose Ramirez with 2 home runs in the first 3 innings. That puts him at 27, and within one of JD Martinez for the MLB lead. Cleveland leads Cincinnati 11-0… the bullpen is going to have a Herculean task blowing this one.

Matheny should be fired for encouraging a player constantly trying to get another player to get his shit together?

It's not like they're throwing rocks at the kid or giving him public wedgies. I don't know about you, but I don't see a problem with a "hey, fuckface, get to the meetings on time, that shit's important" here and there.

Matheny is condoning bullying from a racist hack who sucks at baseball under the guise of "In my day we walked uphill both ways".

Oh, I forgot. Everything is racist, right. I forgot. Norris made some comments years ago that may be taken in a racist tone if that's exactly how you want to view it, so this scenario here is obviously racist as well. Let's make that jump, seems logical.

Past that, talent obviously matters in a scenario where we're talking about one guy trying to get another to do things the way the team wants them done.

Per several reports I've seen on this, Matheny asked Norris to report back on his bullpen players. We don't know what goes on behind the scenes, maybe Norris is an abusive asshole, maybe the pen is full of guys that are fucking off. Could be both for all we know, but again, let's jump to every possible conclusion and call for Matheny's head.

I don't know if it's rare or not, but the Rays scored 5 runs each in the 7th, 8th and 9th inning.

Hypothetically speaking, he gets traded today to the NL. He can't play on Tuesday then, right?

Matt Carpenter is 5 for 5 with 3 HRs and 2 2Bs in the sixth inning, he is a homer away from the best offensive day in MLB history.

Also since it is 15-1, the Cubs have already started using position players to pitch, although Carpenter's hits were all off pitchers (2 HRs against Lester).

First player in MLB history to have 5 extra base hits in the first six innings of a game.

"Cespedes says that the cause of his medical issues is calcification in both heels. He says the only way to fix the issue is surgery. He’s considering it for the off-season, but the recovery time is apparently 8-10 months."

He's playing for a last place team, has already missed more than half the season, and no one is trading for an injured guy with a long DL history, so why exactly is he waiting to do the surgery? I guess he'd rather miss most of next season as well, instead of getting back on the field by May?

Also Callaway didn't seem to know anything about this after the game or before today's game, Mets gonna Mets.

Matt Carpenter, sitting on a HR steak of 5 games, came on in the 6th as part of a double-switch and promptly homered in his first AB in the 7th.

Fox announcers said that's the most HR (6) ever hit by one player during a series at Wrigley. Home or away.

Shin-Soo Choo went 0-fer-4 tonight and failed to reach base after doing so in his last 52 games. It matched the longest streak in the majors since Kevin Millar in 2007. The last streak longer than Choo's came in 2006, when Orlando Cabrera, yes ─ Orlando Cabrera! ─ reached base in 63 consecutive games. Only two players over the past 110 years reached base in more consecutive games than Cabera ─ Ted Williams (who did it twice) and Joe DiMaggio.

Side note: In the same game 12 different Indians reached base. In fact, of the 13 players who batted for Cleveland, only Jason Kipnis went hitless in the Tribe's 16-3 win.

Noah Syndergaard was just put on the DL with hand, foot and mouth disease.

Not joking.

Seattle has to play Houston 13 more times. The A's - just 6. I really think they'll be the other wild card.

The Pirates are playing amazing, 11 wins in a row, 1 against WAS and 5 against MIL before the break.

Now since the break, they are 5-0, all on the road, outscoring the opposition by a ridiculous 43-9, three in CIN and now two in CLE, Kluber and Bieber the last two nights lasted 5.2 innings combined, giving up 14 runs (10 earned).

PIT is 53-49 now, 6 1/2 games behind the Cubs in the Central and three games out of the second wild card.

and they won 13-10. Rangers as we know are bad, but that's an epic implosion.

Meanwhile, Seattle lost a 1 run game. it was 3-3 in the 9th, runner on 2nd two outs, and old buddy Pablo Sandoval hit a weak chopper that Segura rushed and made an error on letting the runner score. 4-3 final. Oakland is only 2 games back of Seattle and the teams still play head-to-head 13 times. riding high but the A's have a +53 run differential, and the Mariners -5.

in the NL, the Dodgers and Phillies ended a 16 inning affair with a walk-off blast from Plouffe... off of Kike Hernandez, as the Dodgers ran out of pitchers. the Phillies used a starter for the 16th and he got the win.

Have to hand it to the Rays, they are definitely experimenting with radical things while they can.

HOOK THIS SHIT TO MY VEINS

I love this love love love
Me too and the fact that Romo is the one doing all this makes it better. He was beloved as a San Francisco Giant - not just because he was a beast for them out of the pen - but because he clearly enjoys everything about playing baseball as a professional. Rooting for him is easy and I would love him even more if he could somehow play in Boston.

Before today's 2 HR game by Khris Davis, his slash line against the Rangers was .301/.381/.769 with 23 HRs in 48 games against. He has 25 HRs in 49 games against the Texas Rangers. I dont watch him much but I always thought of him as some huge power hitter, the guy is 5 10 and 195 lbs

the Rangers Astros SEASON series concluded today. How does an intradivision season series wrap up before the trade deadline?
