Oh yeah...I forgot it was July.

Anyway, Miggy out for 6 weeks. First time he's headed to the DL in his career

Harvey vs Greinke is a fun game to watch
I really like to watch these two pitchers. Who does Harvey remind you of, Seaver, Clemens? Greinke is like a machine with his command. Harvey struggled with his control tonight, 5 walks in 5 innings, so Wade Miley should take heart a bit off his last outing. Mets are struggling big time with lack of offense. Only 4 out, they'll be buyers, I guess.

The Rangers are currently putting up one of the ugliest innings I've seen in a while vs the Angels. Bad pitching, bad luck, bad defense.

This is the same guy who wore boxing gloves in the dugout during a game against the then-notoriously pugilistic Royals earlier this year.  I'd love to scoff and say he's trying too hard to be funny but, well... he's pretty funny.

Both Sale and Buehrle pitched a CG in Chicago today.  Jays led 2-1 with 2 outs in the Bottom of the 8th before the ChiSox tied it on an Abreu single and took the lead on a Cabrera double.

Time of Game: 1:54

Also, Sale had less than 10 strikeouts, so he remains tied with Pedro for most consecutive games with 10 or more Ks (8). Giggity.

So the A's have the worst record in the AL, but they have the 4th best net runs.  That's a pretty big swing between where they ought to be based on RS/RA and where they are.

They are something like 6-21 in 1 run games this season. Can't win close games.

“@JeffPassan: Alex Gordon is getting carted off the field in Kansas City. Favoring his left leg. Went down in an ugly way on the track chasing a fly ball.”

I absolutely love having Vin Scully calling a game in the background while I do other stuff.  I wish he could live forever.

Cheat Code Zach Greinke is pretty good.

Tonight he had 8 IP, 1 HA and 8ks and no runs allowed.  His scoreless streak is now 35 2/3 innings (he hasn't allowed a ER since June 13).  His ERA is a league-best 1.39

This.

If you get a chance and you have MLB.tv, go back and watch/listen to the bottom of the seventh inning of the July 8 PHI @ LAD game.  Nothing noteworthy happened on the field, but it just takes a few minutes it's vintage Scully.  He recaps the whole game, gives light but sufficient treatment to the current game action, and weaves in a very touching version of the life story of the opposing team's middle reliever, Jake Diekman.

At the end of every season, I get sad with the realization that Scully might retire.  Then, the random off-season day when I learn he's on board for another year is like my own personal Christmas.  I will miss him like crazy when he finally hangs it up.

Trout with yet another 2-HR game tonight. He's hit 5 over his last 4 games and is now tied for the AL lead with 26. Incredible to watch him swing right now.

Another reason these next two games vs NY are so important to the Red Sox is the looming 4 game series against the Angels right after the break. They're the hottest team in baseball right now and have made up a ton of ground on Houston. Only .5 game back now.

McCutcheon walks off against the Cardinals in a game where the home plate ump screwed them twice on bad calls and they had to come back twice in extras to win in the 14th

Injured it sliding into first. Too bad he got hurt before his first All Star game.

I assume you mean as a starter? He was an All Star last year too.
Now that you mentioned it, I do remember him being introduced because he's Flash's son. I couldn't tell if you played or not because the combination of Buck, Reynolds, and Jeter's final All Star game drove me away very quickly.

The game last night (Saturday) was one of the best ganes I've ever seen. A lot of friends are Pirates fans and said to watch it so this morning I did. Highly entertaining.

The Pirates crowd was nuts, from TV.  I have half a mind to fly to Pitts for a couple big games later this summer if they stay in it.

Bob Costas is calling the Dodgers/Nats game, he is trying to fill time since the lights are out. God is it excruciating.
