I am pretty sure if they met his price Bill would be fine with being in the video game.

As people noted, he's not in the Coaches' Union. Do we know if EA ever tried negotiating with him? Did they just not want to meet his price? Shrug...
As a condition of getting the Coaches' Union coaches in the game they might not have been able to negotiate separately with coaches outside the union. I remember the old baseball games that had real players in them through the Players' Union wouldn't have players that had been replacement players during the 94-95 strike like Brian Daubach and Kevin Millar.

Is Belichick not in the union or does he just have a separate likeness licensing agreement? I seem to recall Michael Jordan and Barry Bonds were in their respective unions but excluded themselves from being licensed in the games, being that they were superstars who could command higher prices. The NBA games would have a generic No. 23 player on the Bulls who was really good instead, for instance.

All indications are he isn't part of the union.

Somewhere
The thing with Madden was his humility. It seemed genuine. A lot of celebrities, both inside and outside of football, could stand to take a page from his act. Seems like a dying breed.

LOL, the Parcells part at the end is pretty great too.
Yeah that was hilarious....it was almost as if Parcells was testing Hostetler one more time. "let see if he can make the plane on his own".

Who knows if that was it...they prob just left without realizing he was missing. But it wouldn't be surprising if Parcells knew the whole time.

I always thought John Ratzenberger kind of looked and sounded like Madden, who is extremely distinctive. Ratzenberger is 75 though.

They may need multiple actors for the different life stages.
They could Irishman it and do aging CGI for various stages with an actor too. I think that's probably cost prohibitive and it's also pretty creepy.

I think Seth Rogan could pull it off, and he's in the right age range now to reach down and up on the different phases of Madden's life.

Agreed PSH would have been the ultimate choice.

I’ll throw a weird one out there, Ethan Suplee (mostly a character actor, the guy who couldn’t see the sailboat in Mallrats). I do t know if he has the chops but something about the look is close, and he’s still young enough to play different eras.

I think they’d probably want someone around 40, especially if a big chunk is going to cover the Raiders years. But that kind of ex-lineman physique is pretty rare in Hollywood.

Who’s that giant, shitty actor from Black Sails and Umbrella Academy? He might actually be good for this.

Out of left field selection - Brian Baumgartner. Dude loves football and knows football, has the heft to play the role. Isn't too old. Yeah he'd need a wig, big deal.

There’s a difference between a large man and a large athletic man. PSH and Brian Baumgartner don’t move like athletes. Especially PSH anymore.

I was actually thinking John Cena could pull it off, if he was willing to put on some weight.

Was Madden particularly athletic in his coaching and then broadcasting days? I legit don't know. Assumed he was just a heavy guy at that point

Suplee is a truly great suggestion and he's got the chops!
