Apologies if this is being discussed elsewhere but Jenny may not be long for NESN:

It definitely takes her out of the "journalist" class (damn those quotations marks are contagious).  I will add however that all the guys who cover the Sox who have co-written books with players they currently are paid to be objective about are pretty much in the same category.

The ghost/cowritten autobiography has always been a real logical flaw in the facade of sports journalism ethics, even for the supposedly pure old guard.  Dick Schaap was in fiduciary bed with half the people covered.  Also the whole "drink at the same bars and ignore everything" thing.

I have a hard time recalling why I should care if covering sports is treated with the same regard to the "public trust" as real news, that goes triply for team-produced local television, and I'm not at all concerned if the local media is too close to the players.  On the rare occasions when the sports media needs to cover a Real Story, I'll trust there's enough variety and separation to let some professionalism rise up alongside the inevitable shitshow (which happens not at all because of 'agenda' and entirely because they're just not good at it).

As always, my position is the state must show a clear public need to institute regulations that will result in a decrease in the overall amount and frequency of hot women having sex.  With sports in general, I don't buy it.

"Sideline repoters" are hardly journalists.  Really what has Dell or Watney contributed other than a pretty face?  They repeat old news and give ballpark food reviews.  So the fact they give up the inkwell for the company pen is meaningless.  It's fun for us to talk about though.

Makes sense. Two good-looking young single people are attracted to one another. Do I care how it affects her coverage of the team? Not really. Good for them.

Talk about positional flexibility . . . yeah, yeah . . . And in this case Middlebrooks might be better off at second base . . . yeah, yeah.

I'm not sure how this affects coverage of the team or relates to journalistic integrity. Will Jenny start having a more difficult time asking Will "How did it feel to hit that home run?" Because that's about as hard-hitting as her questions to anyone ever get.

Dell's primary contribution is her huge rack.

When has that orange face look ever looked good?  If you can get past that, that Supergirl is very bangable.
I can very easily get by that and I bet most here could as well despite their internet musings.

I'm pretty sure Will's family own farmland, which technically makes him

Farmer in the Dell

That's a ways to stretch it.

Nice waist definition plus huge bazoozums plus Halloween (most acceptable day for tangerine skin) = very bang-able.

She's a 6 on a good day.

She's good looking, and she looks like fun, but she's not remarkable or anything.

The problem, I suspect, is that she thinks she's far more attractive than she really is.   Further, she strikes me as the type that will, over the next 10 years or so, fuck up her natural good looks by desperately attempting to never look a day over 29.  Those are, ironically, the women that tend to age the worst.

Yeah, I wish someone would let these women in on these tips so they can achieve their purpose in life which is to be as attractive to me as possible.

I agree, why?  I don't think she (or he) would be going public if her job was in jeopardy.  Can't imagine any of this is news to the NESN folks, anyway.

Besides, if NESN thinks there's a conflict of interest for Jenny to be "covering" the Red Sox, they could simply switch she and Jamie Erdahl...Jenny on Bruins telecasts, Jamie on Sox games.

It does seem a little too conicidental that all of this "unveiling" of Dell/WMB coems at the same time Dell is rumored to be bolting to Fox Sports 1.

Either way, I'm sure NESN will be just fine with our without her services.

Don't the owners of the Red Sox own NESN anyway? And now Henry owns the largest newspaper in town as well. I think if you're looking for a conflict of interest there are bigger fish to fry.

You're saying Henry is in bed with Cafardo? That's not a pleasant visual.

You can picture him in bed with CHB instead if that's your thing. I'm not here to judge.

In response to a Dell/WMB "is it an issue" question, Chad Finn answered:

Chad Finn:
Sure it does, but it's complicated. From what I know, it's a genuine relationship between two people who, in my experience, are really nice and likable, and in that sense you're happy for them. But this is also something NESN has frowned upon -- I believe they put a policy against dating players into place when Hazel Mae was here -- and whether they had their head in the sand or not the last 12-18 months, they definitely aren't thrilled about this. It might affect her rep to some degree, though NESN apparently wants to keep her from leaving for Fox Sports 1. The real effect that it has is on actual female journalists who have to deal with the perception that they'll all date the players to .. I don't know, get ahead or something. I know a lot of female reporters who are very bothered about this, and they should be.

The bolded part hadn't occurred to me.

In the broader newspaper sense, they'd move her to another beat.  Then again, she can barely do the job to which she's already assigned. (YMMV)
