Done with Jaylen.

He may have been a bright kid at 19 when he left Berkeley but that doesn't excuse his ignorance and bigotry.

Yeah I've transitioned from him being my favorite Celtic and a future leader to begrudgingly rooting for laundry and praying someone changes his Twitter password on him.

Jaylen has been full of shit for a while. He wore a 'Liberation' jersey during the bubble but had no problem signing a contract with the marketing agency of Kanye "Slavery is a choice" West. It was literally 2 months after Kanye made his MAGA run for the presidency.

I think a lot of this over the top support for Kyrie is because he's still upset he was forced to leave Donda.

I was going to post this thought in the game thread the other night, but while JB is our 2nd best overall player, he's probably more easily replaceable than other guys, and by replaceable I mean his production could easily be spread around. If the C's come up short again, I wonder if the best way to improve is trade him in the off season for a guy like KAT

As though all energy is good.

This sucks. Well, really: It’s bad.

It just sucks rooting for a team whose players don’t think you should exist. I dunno, maybe if they win I’ll get a championship armband. Fuck.

Just said in the Kyrie thread, Jaylen seems to lovvvve supporting anti-semites. I can’t root for the guy anymore.

Right: This isn’t about a bad thing he did; this is a thing that he is doing.

How long until the Juice logo is appropriated using slightly different spelling?

Also, not sure Jaylen thought through having a clothing brand that some portion of the fanbase now will actively avoid buying, right ahead of a big shopping season.

That said, unlike other business people, Jaylen Brown is pretty open about politics which makes identifying or avoiding his brand a pretty easy decision.

Finally, my sense is that far more professional athletes hold toxic views than fans would like to admit. This isn't to excuse Brown in any way - its deeply disappointing that he is actively promoting this stuff - but just that fans probably shouldn't be as invested in these folks as we are. In many cases, they are likely living in a bubble of their own where opposing viewpoints are but a faint whisper.

Construct a plausible trade shipping Brown out and getting equal value back. Just seeing what’s possible if this goes sideways.
I'd like it if Jaylen knocked this Twitter stuff off.

Not perfect matches but here's a list off the top of my head. Jaylen may have started dinging his trade value already. IDK

1. Mikal Bridges +

2. OG Anunoby+

3. Bane+

4. JJJ

5. Brandon Ingram

This is becoming a real problem for me. I’d like Jaylen to sit down for an interview and be clear about exactly what he means, because this is he isn’t he shit is wearing thin.

I can’t help but think about the tweet that he liked then unliked a few hours later, a few weeks back.

This is undoubtedly true. But Jaylen Brown has also made social justice, working for it, and delivering messages about it part of his brand.

Sadly I am about to get here as well.

im not even sure what the fuck he’s talking about anymore. “Energy”? As people pass around anti-Semitic pamphlets trying to stick up for a self involved douchebag who still doesn’t seem to be taking responsibility for what he did?

it’s all incredibly disappointing thay he’s choosing to piss away all the goodwill he’s built up with the fans sticking up for someone like Kyrie

Can anyone explain the context of this post. What is he replying to?
It was the night that Kanye’s school was shut down and kids lost their scholarship, which everyone agrees was unfortunate. But there was a ton of tweets about Jewish people controlling everything, and Jaylen liked that one.

I was much closer to the latter with all the other stuff over the last few months, I’m having a harder time with this shit today.

I don’t know what would be worse, tweets that are vague enough that we are concerned but can’t say with 100% certainty what he really thinks or if he were to give a long form interview where we really learned what he thinks.
What’s sort of ironically funny, is Jaylen has had a reputation as someone who would do great things outside of basketball. That is increasingly looking extremely unlikely.

I'm very much a passive, borderline fair-weather basketball fan...but I've been tracking the Kyrie stuff lately. The key question for me has been whether Jaylen offers so much support because he really likes Kyrie personally from their time together in Boston or because he is sympathetic to the hateful stuff Kyrie is saying. While I continue to think his prime motivation is the former, the fact that the stuff in the latter hasn't caused him to say "whoa, man...you've gone too far. Now I gotta turn my back on you" is a real deal-breaker.

It's very akin to Brady, Belichick ,and Kraft these last six years. They had their chances to get off the road but didn't take them. I'll still root for the laundry. But he's made his choice who to stand with and who to celebrate.

I don't do twitter, did he delete the original? I will say this, he did backtrack only 2 hours later. Those are the colors of the frat he referenced, so I actually believe him on that front. I'm about 50/50 on him right now. I read this tweet showing he genuinely believed it was a different group, but he needs to come out with a direct, clear statement. Hopefully this is a wake up call. If he keeps muddying the waters I'm worried

Nope. He also doesn’t say anything regretful or apologetic or address who it was whose voices he magnified and denounce the hateful message they preach. Saying “I didn’t know” without more is pretty much worthless.

I don't think his shirsey I purchased 4 years ago is ever coming back out of the closet at this point. Kick save by JB to do the absolute minimum to walk his message back, but no apology for amplifying the hate displayed outside the Barclay's Center today.

Fair point. Brad needs to sit down with him and get a read. Like I posted up thread, I think he is far more replaceable than he thinks he is.

Can dudes in penitentiary do Cameos? Because I would contribute to a song penned by R Kelly where it is a remake of Trapped in the Closet from the POV of your jersey.

I get that some are still at the bargaining stage given Jaylen's follow up Tweets but they don't matter. He was already playing footsie with Kyrie and his shtick.

As far as I am concerned, Jaylen has strong feelings against Jews, whatever they actually are...if they are even well considered. I will still root for his success and he is young as well as bright enough to evolve. But to be safe, I'm assuming he is in the "wants Jews dead" column.

With full acknowledgement that I am not a member of either Jaylen Brown’s protected class, or the one denigrated by the movie Kyrie posted, I think that SoSH probably needs to take a step back and recognize that they’re talking about an articulate yet almost unimaginably ignorant (first by upbringing and then by wealth isolation) man who is vanishingly unlikely to know as much as the average member here does about this particular subject matter, while simultaneously having an infinitely more involved role as a NBAPA leader.

All of the accolades heaped upon him as some apparently deep thinker while he said things palatable to the membership here should not blur that. He talks good for a basketball player, but he’s basically the “do your own research” guy on Facebook, with massively more money.

R Kelly can pretend to watch me wearing my only other "useable" shirsey at this point (Devers), just doing boring stuff in the bedroom unlike the original Trapped in the Closet. Singing: 'Him and the wife are going to bed.' 'They're getting dressed to start the day.' 'Please put me in Goodwill so I can move on to a more exciting home.'

I would have agreed with you a few months ago, even though hell, I think I might have made the first post worrying about him in his last thread. I believe in people, I think they deserve the right to redeem themselves. But JB, even if he is defending Kyrie as a rep, still needs to say this shit is not ok. And he hasn't, he dances around it. During the George Floyd protests, he was very eloquent and spoke plainly. He knows how to do it. He's not willing to do it to protect Kyrie's...one feeling? Does he even have any of those left?

Honestly, I think he was more likely to be a stopped clock than a sage with regard to the Floyd protests. Or a even precocious savant, if you will. Basically, I think that the fact that he landed correctly there has some of us holding him to a standard of “Political Commentator Above Replacement Player,” that was probably unsustainable, given his actual skill set in that regard.
