Here
If someone is friends with someone you don't agree with, you can hate them both? Sure. Seems like a sane way to go about life.

Think you'll find you end up disliking most athletes and celebrities in this 7 degrees to Kevin Bacon.
I mean obviously it would depend on the topic of the disagreement. Socialized healthcare? Sure. Jews ruin everything? Not so much. I’d be perfectly fine not being friends with people who said the stuff he said in a non-satirical manner, though in this case I think Kanye has clear mental illness and I’d want him to get help.

Indeed. I’m hoping that a guy like Jaylen doing what I hope he is doing is what might make an impact on Kanye.

We’ll see.

Here's a crazy V&N idea: you can like a person despite their political or global views.

In fact, most normal people use those talking points to bust balls. Because sometimes, life just doesn't have to be that serious.
You know I love you, man, but did you read @Smokey Joe ’s post? IANTKOD, but I know my way around the area a bit and I think he’s spot on. More specifically, Kanye reads like a guy who was on treatment and went off without supervision. Like, if someone doesn’t want to be on meds or whatever, I can support that. Completely. But, in general, but also as a former EMT, the people who go on and off meds or other forms of treatment capriciously and without a disciplined plan… seriously, fuck them. They are often a danger to themselves and also others.

Can I be sure that’s what’s happening? No. But if it’s not what’s happening, then that speaks even worse on West.

I mean, even if you’re not gonna turn your back on a guy, there’s a point where you gotta lock it down, yeah?

Your Racist Friend

Lyrics

This is where the party ends
I can't stand here listening to you
And your racist friend
I know politics bore you
But I feel like a hypocrite talking to you
And your racist friend
It was the loveliest party that I've ever attended
If anything was broken I'm sure it could be mended
My head can't tolerate this bobbing and pretending
Listen to some bullet-head and the madness that he's saying
This is where the party ends
I'll just sit here wondering how you
Can stand by your racist friend
I know politics bore you
But I feel like a hypocrite talking to you
You and your racist friend
This is where the party ends
I can't stand here listening to you
And your racist friend
I know politics bore you
But I feel like a hypocrite talking to you
And your racist friend
Out from the kitchen to the bedroom to the hallway
Your friend apologizes, he could see it my way
He let the contents of the bottle do the thinking
Can't shake the devil's hand and say you're only kidding
This is where the party ends
I can't stand here listening to you
And your racist friend
I know politics bore you
But I feel like a hypocrite talking to you
And your racist friend

Kanye might literally be on a death spiral here. Good for Jaylen to get away from this trainwreck.

Kudos to Jaylen and Aaron Donald for doing the right thing, even if potentially challenging for personal relationships.

Say what you will about lawyers and PR people, but there’s a reason people keep them around. Damn.

That said: I’m glad Donda didn’t have them or listen to them. Because I want to know.

And I am so, so glad that Jaylen cut bait. And not just because I want to root for him (which I do), but for who I think he can be.

This is actually a fair critique. The post I made was a driveby and poorly thought out.

Woah, hold on there big guy! This is the internet: you're supposed to dig in your heels, double down, and argue senselessly for days until we all forget the original issue. Get with the program and the program is not admitting the fairness of any critique. Sheesh! Did you lose the instruction manual, or what?

Christ. What’s next? Is Herschel Walker on the Board of Directors?

I didn’t think much of it when Jaylen first joined Donda but god damn he really associated himself with the dumbest assholes out there.
WHAT!?!?!!?!? What sane person would put Antonio Brown in charge of a lemonade stand?

If someone had said that AB was the president of Donda I would have thought it was a joke..lol.
I mean, just months ago he ended his NFL career by exiting MetLife Stadium in a shirtless blaze, and then - apparently- he was hired by Ye to be "President of Donda Sports". Seems like the primary pre-requisite to employment at Donda might be a psychiatric disorder. Can't feel too great about the fact that Jaylen was ever associated with these nut jobs, but glad he's finally out.

This statement blows.
It is truly, truly brutal. AB and Ye deserve each other.... but what in the world is JB doing in that circle?

Its like when your brilliant high school friend started hanging out with losers and drug addicts. That always went one of two ways... it was a phase, or they joined their ranks permanently and missed out on their potential. Really hoping for JB's sake that its the former.

Jaylen had a great time on Twitter last night. Between questioning why “people” are trying to hurt kids by closing a school because they dislike Kanye, liking tweets that say “It makes you wonder who is really in charge” (that one he unliked after being called out) and more, he really does seem intent on showing us who he is, despite many people’s desire to not believe it. He used the “No crimes have been committed,” defense which is, interesting, since they’re talking about children in school. The tweet he liked talking about how all of this is actually anti-Black racism and that Black Americans are still slaves was a chef’s kiss of fuck facery.

The energy is about to shift!

So much for that discussion. The school is closing because the staff is quitting in protest against Ye’s anti-semitism.

As someone in the comments said, "you can't be complaining about the treatment given to 'high school' kids when they are not attending an actual high school." This is Bishop Sycamore with a bigger celebrity as the face of the school, maybe?

Glad I held off on buying that JB jersey a few years ago. This shit is getting weird.

This is the one I have a hard time not being really annoyed at Jaylen over, it’s basically admitting he just left Donda because of the backlash, and that he agrees with Kanye’s thinking. He ended up unliking it, but everyone saw.

I don't know, if you read his tweets they all seem to be about trying to help out kids who are unfortunately being left in the lurch because a sociopath is off his meds. The second half of the tweet he liked about about leaving Donda was about protecting the kids whose school had been shut down. I'm not defending every tweet Jaylen has liked, but I think trying to help out these kids is a noble cause, they had nothing to do with Kanye's racist rants.

What did he say? From what I read he didn’t say much controversial (that was Marcus Smart)

He shared a pic on his story about Ime getting the Nets job. It was Ime and KD, but if I’m honest, I took that as a fuck you to Ime, who wanted to trade him for KD. “Got your wish,” type of thing.
It wasn’t:

https://www.bostonglobe.com/2022/11/02/sports/ime-udoka-marcus-smart/

Forward Jaylen Brown said it would have been “awesome” if Udoka had been able to return to the Celtics next season, and that it “sucks” that he will not be back. But most of all, he’s pleased that Udoka will get another chance.

“I’m just happy to see a Black head coach end up back on his feet,” Brown said, “because I’ve seen situations where something like this might not have been the case.”

I’m sure the players loved Ime so I understand their frustration, but it’s so stupid to say things like that to the media. If nothing else it can’t make Joe Mazzulla feel all warm and fuzzy.

There's plenty of love for Mazzulla in that article:

“You can have more than one best friend,” Smart said. “That’s just kind of the relationship it is. We love Joe. We also love Ime, too. Joe understands that, and Joe loves him. But we’re definitely excited for Joe and proud of Joe and it’s not fair to Joe to have to keep hearing this either and go through what he’s going through.

"They’re both our brothers and we love them the same. Unfortunately, the circumstances called for some desperate measures and Joe has the coaching job, so that’s who we’re listening to and that’s who we’re rocking with. We still love Ime, but Joe is our coach.”

Yeah, it's a slightly weird comment when Mazzulla is also black. Whatever, I imagine it will all sort itself out.

I didn't read any of it as accusing the Celtics of being racist. Just the regular concern (as most dramatically seen in the NFL) that white coaches get more second chances.

Aside from his social media presence, has anyone else been a little worried about Jaylen's play? I know he's putting up pretty good numbers and we don't need him to be amazing since Tatum has taken a leap, but he doesn't seem to have learned anything from his playoff run. So many drives where he ends up too deep under the basket, or offensive fouls trying to create space, or dribbling off his foot....even a lot of his made baskets have a crazy high degree of difficulty that I just don't trust him that much right now. Plus the lazy D on SGA last night. Part of me thinks that he is seeing Tatum get so much love and he wants to make sure he gets in the box score too...but it all looks forced.

Again, not a big deal at the moment and maybe Brogdon solves some of this by moving him off-ball some, but I'm worried that come playoff time, teams will do what they did last year and let let Jaylen try to force the issue

Lazy D against SGA? We watched different games.

He got beaten baseline once while ball-watching, as did White. I saw SGA working his balls off on offense against pretty hard D, when JB was on him. SGA is that good.

I only watched the 4th Q, but definitely noticed Jaylen being pretty locked in defensively.
I didn't see the entire game either and agree that he played well in the 4th but he did miss a rotation earlier in the game that led to an uncontested OKC bucket. That seems to happen with him with some frequency.

Happened with White too. Scal called out that OKC runs that baseline cut with frequency on the broadcast (I think that it was Scal). Jaylen is prone to ball-watching for sure though.

I was at the game against OKC, and while Jaylen got beat backdoor early in the game, he was the reason they were even still in the game on the offensive end.

Defensively, in the first half, Marcus Smart was actually the problem. He was making bad decisions all over the place, then got into foul trouble, and IIRC, was a -23 at halftime. OKC is long, athletic and they can all finish. Grant was trying to guard SGA for a good portion early, and Marcus was roaming, but got beat backdoor, slacked off when he should have helped, etc.

Obviously, the 2nd half was a different story, but from what I saw, Jaylen was locked in, got beat a few times (as did everyone else), but also was the only guy making shots early or they would have gotten blown the fuck out. And it isn't the first time this year either.

I mean, the guy's last two games were 51 points on 22/36 shooting (including 0/5 from 3 against OKC), 14 rebounds, 14 assists. Yeah, the 8 turnovers suck, but a couple of them were late in clocks where they probably weren't scoring anyway. But what I've noticed is he's looking to pass more, and making much more difficult passes regularly. That's leading to some turnovers, but I'll take 7 assists a night along with 25ppg any day of the week, even if it means a few turnovers.

All good points. Lot of folks can't get early-career Bambi Jaylen out of their heads. He still doesn't look like a natural. Of course, lots of guys in the league look like a "natural" and suck. It's hard to detach from our own preconceptions sometimes.
