Jaylen seems like a smart guy, I appreciate his activism, and I probably should cut him more slack for his “questionable” beliefs/tweets.

I think we just don’t want to see it trend toward Kyrie-land, though perhaps part of that is scar tissue after living through the Kyrie experience.

Perhaps more importantly, why is he so mediocre on defense? Poor instincts and loafing 80% of the time aren’t doing his overall value any favors.

A Celtics security staff member informed Brown of an Oct. 30 event where community members were going to walk with McGuire in Franklin Park.​

Brown considered attending before the Celtics faced the Wizards, but McGuire was hospitalized that day. Brown connected with her representatives and visited her home Nov. 3.​

“It was a great night. It was amazing,” Brown said. “I was trying to find some activities for my grandpa that he can do, whether it’s social events of people his age. She had to be rushed back to the hospital, so I told her if I could meet up with her another time I’d love to spend some time with her. I read the article. I wasn’t familiar with her before and the things that she’s done in her career in education and civil rights. So I thought she’d be a great person to go and spend some time with.”​

As for defense, I think the common theme is that JB is better on-ball, particularly against bigger defenders and has poor instincts for off-ball defense. It's a "tunnel-vision" quality that helps him on offense but holds back his defense. I'm also sure he's never had to play a lot of defense. Obviously, he's better at defense when he feels like he really has to.

Any stats, advanced or not, are at the very least noisy this early in the year. Furthermore, given a variety of factors including the HC change, rule changes as well as early season points of emphasis by the refs, I suspect all the Cs have room to improve on D.

In short, my sense is that its a bit early to worried about Jaylen's D but it certainly bears watching.

I think Jaylen is probably hurt the most by not having TL in the mix as a backstop. A lot of times it seems like he gets beat in part because he is funneling, or thinks he is funneling, a ballhandler toward help D that isn't always there with TL on the sidelines.
