I am all for people expanding their empires, but damn JB's rapping doesn't hit for me. He's basically rapping at his normal personal energy, and that just doesn't work. I say this as zero knock on JB, but a rapper needs to have energy or delivery, and he lacks in both. Then again he does so much good for the community I'd listen to this every day if it meant he'd continue that

I'm here for the chip on his shoulder. All of it. It's not a chip that drags him down, motivational only. Guy seems determined to shame everyone who thinks down on him by getting better and better and dragging their weird biases and politics into the sanitizing light. In the words of the immortal BFB, no days off. Fucking love it.

Ok but did you think the rapping was good?

Well I didn't mind it, but I'm hardly a judge. Outside of a few artists that my son introduced me to in the last decade or so, Wu Tang is new rap to me.

It's the overall video content that got me excited. He sounds like a man motivated to kick major ass.

Hopefully that’s his only foray into rap lol.

But good for him, and fuck Kevin Porter Jr, so I love that aspect of it.

It’s probably not especially if his star continues to shine. Who was it who said, “Rappers want to be ballers and ballers want to be rappers?”

That was objectively bad but I like that he is confident enough to do it. There will be absolutely zero f*cks given by Jaylen this year and that will be fun to watch.

That was terrible, Dame’s rapping is much better - although shoutout to the penthouse suite in Encore and Boston vibes.

The dudes not a good rapper. However he’s 1000000000x better than Kobe and I don’t think he got too much shit for it.

Basically, who cares

I thought that video was entertaining, and I don’t think I’m the intended target audience, as a white dude who started following the Celtics in the early 1970s,

JB shouldn’t be counting on winning MVR, but he’s not an embarrassingly bad rapper. The other rapper, who I didn’t know previous to this collab, is pretty good. The production values on that video is high, and the typical rap video content of luxury cars, clothes, shoes, girls, etc should make it an appealing watch to those who started watching basketball when JB had a high top fade.

Plus he got to expropriate the phrase Just Do It, to mess with Nike.

Also, Dana Barros is the best Celtics rapper, and one of the best from the era when so many players were trying to be rappers.

The start of the season can't get here fast enough. I really thought I'd enjoy the championship summer more, but I just want to get going again.
Yeah I obviously loved all of last season, but with the removed weight of them finally winning and JB and JT feeling disrespected I'm even more excited than ever for next season. They were methodical last season and Joe will keep them there this upcoming one, and now they are apparently going to throw in being ruthless as well. Can't wait

Last season the Celtics set an NBA record with 3 wins by 50 or more points. Maybe they can rewrite the history books again starting in October. LFG.

If motivation stays high and they avoid the injury bug, this should be a pretty epic regular season.

96 Bulls/17 Warriors kinda stuff. They were basically right there last season.... but even moreso now with the monkey off their back, motivated stars entering their prime, and this top 8.

It definitely feels like there's a monkey off my back as a fan, so I can't even imagine how the team's stars feel.

This is where I'm at... I'm sure I'll get tense at various points this season (beat up on Kerr, please and thank you), but really, it'll be one big tureen of gravy on top of house money. Things will change when the playoffs roll around, of course, given that I would love to see this group become dynastic, but until then, just stomp through the league and have fun doing it.

I think he looks much better without the beard.

Those deltoids are off the charts.

Numerology? Jaylen Brown's "deep connection to numbers and frequencies"?!

Christ, he and Kyrie really are on the same wavelength.

Tatum and Brown are both very handsome and stepped up big time in terms of handsome Boston athletes after Benentindi was traded.

JB seems to be a lot smarter and actually more well read than Kyrie (who seems like a complete dope so the bar isn’t too high)

However, there’s no denying that Jaylen is kind of a weird dude. He spent the summer wearing that like caffeine necklace that seems like a complete hoax?

Eh, intelligent people can also believe stupid shit. To whit, Isaac Newton:

In June 2020, two unpublished pages of Newton's notes on Jan Baptist van Helmont's book on plague, De Peste,[162] were being auctioned online by Bonhams. Newton's analysis of this book, which he made in Cambridge while protecting himself from London's 1665–1666 infection, is the most substantial written statement he is known to have made about the plague, according to Bonhams. As far as the therapy is concerned, Newton writes that "the best is a toad suspended by the legs in a chimney for three days, which at last vomited up earth with various insects in it, on to a dish of yellow wax, and shortly after died. Combining powdered toad with the excretions and serum made into lozenges and worn about the affected area drove away the contagion and drew out the poison".

I think #7 is lucky in China & all that other stuff is kind of Eastern leaning.

Maybe their target market is Asia?

not to derail the thread, i love the guy. but grad school has no shortage of unintelligent people. just basing off my own impression.
What would lead you to beleive that Jaylen isn’t intelligent? He speaks well, dresses well, acted as his own agent earlier in his career while doing the work to understand the job, and was elected as Vice President of the Players Association at age 23.

Is anyone concerned about Jaylen wearing these sneakers from a health perspective? All I can think about is Lonzo Ball's injury and the speculation that it's due to wearing Big Baller Brand sneakers at the beginning of his career. Seems risky to wear something unproven just to make a statement.

Jaylen seems to believe and say some weird stuff occasionally, but I’m not sure why anyone would describe him as “unintelligent”. At least based on what we know.

I agree going to Cal on a bball scholarship and taking some grad classes doesn’t automatically make him smart…. But he certainly seems more intelligent and well-spoken than most NBA guys. Hard to honestly say much more than that I think.

It wasn’t only Jaylen taking advanced courses it was the comments from his professors that were published when asked about him taking those courses.

he’s always struck me as a big word salad kind of guy. i think his comments during the kyrie thing were really not the sorts of things a smart or thoughtful person would say. i’ll drop it because it’s not really an interesting conversation to me.
