The Bruins need to get their act together quick. Toronto is 15-4-1 since Babcock was fired and Tampa has caught fire and won seven straight. The Atlantic is going to be a dog fight.

This. We need to end our malaise. The Leafs are Bolts are surging.

You’re not supposed to be able to do what McDavid just did to Morgan Reilly to an NHL defensemen. Holy crap.

Old friend Noel Acciari is having a run - 12 goals in his last 12 games for 17 goals this season in 41 games. Somehow:

he's scored the 17 goals on only 68 shots
he's got only 3 assists
he's got no powerplay goals but is still a -1 on the season

He's getting ~18 minutes a night in Florida.

Habs lost their 8th straight game last night. 9 points behind the 2nd wild card, 11 points behind the 3rd Atlantic team. Likely their 4th playoff DNQ in 5 years, have to imagine the natives get quite restless. Just gotta keep them away from Lafreniere.

That is vintage Kovalchuk. The man can still shoot the puck.

1-3=4 in 4 games with MTL. Guessing he’ll be moved prior to the deadline. Habs spent a prorated $700K to buy a draft pick.

Tkachuk is Marchand with less finesse and more oomph. Same quality of getting under people's skin though. Getting people to overreact like Kassian did is absolutely part of his game. Clean hit too.

A FLA-TOR series would be fun to watch as a neutral observer. Imagine it would be a lot like the PIT-PHI barnburner from 8 years ago.

I dunno, Tkachuk is a hell of a player and just turned 22. 34g 43a at age 20/21. Marchand couldn't do that in the AHL

The Wild are playing with 5 D tonight because they forgot to put their 6th D (Greg Pateryn) on the lineup card.

Hat trick for Ovechkin today who has passed Lemieux and now tied with Yzerman for ninth all time with 692 goals. Now 202 behind the all-time record (Gretzky of course). At his age (34.5) it's probably at best a coin flip that he can pull it off but it's at least plausible. Imagine if he hadn't lost 1.3 seasons to work stoppages.

Habs blew a 4-2 lead with 2:00 left but ended up winning in the shootout. Kovalchuk scored in regulation and the shootout. 4-4=8 in 8 games with Montreal. Indeed, he may have helped.

Also the Leafs loss and other scores combined to leave them in 10th place in the conference. It is their bye week and they don’t play again until the 27th.

Even if he didn't end up here, the idea of him helping secure the 13th-15th overall pick for Montreal does get my schadenfreude going

10th all time for Americans. Needs 34 to move into 7th all time (Lafontaine, Leetch, and Weight ahead of him), so certainly doable by the end of the year. 392 to pass Hull, which seems likely if he doesn’t get injured.

They really need to go to the old traditional format for the ASG.

I still can't get used to this 4 team 3v3 format with 3 games.
