Exactly.

"Relatability" and schmoozing are 160 proof with the sporting press. They almost empowered Peter King to get Jeff Fisher into Canton -- before the roof finally caved in.

"I love these kids ... Why is everyone so negative?"

I don't blame him, but if you were Masai would you go near this mess? I guess you never know what motivates someone but this feels like a no-win for an exec so long as Dolan is there
I guess it depends what his alternatives are. Dolan is obviously the fedora-wearing elephant in the room, but other than Noah, their aren't too many bad contracts on the roster. Dolan plus the microscope of NYC may be enough to put him off, but the on-court situation isn't as bad as it might seem.
Well, Anthony's contract, too, which they can't seem to get anyone to take. But I take your point -- the Knicks aren't a complete shitshow. They have drafted well -- including getting one of the best under 25 players in the league and some decent complementary players, and I like Frank N long-term upside over Dennis Smith's erratic game. If you're Ujiri doesn't the glory of taking a team from the bottom to the top in NY have to appeal? It may be fool's gold given Dolan as well as the Noah and Anthony albatross.

David Griffin pulled out of talks to become GM because they wanted him to work under Steve Mills and wouldn't allow him to shape his own front office or have final decision-making power. Griffin, by the way, was a GM for three years and went to three straight NBA Finals. Mills, by contrast, worked with Phil Jackson to create their current mess and in his first summer heading the front office lavished the off-season's most ridiculous contract to Tim Hardaway Jr. He also reportedly wants to build around KP/Ntilikinia/Hardaway/Hernangomez as the new "Core Four." Is it possible this is going to get even worse before it gets better? Sad days for Knicks fans.

As long as James Dolan is the owner of the Knicks, they will never get better. The year they won over 50 games was the fluke not the norm. Dolan has no idea what he's doing and the cronies he surrounds himself with are idiots. They have no idea how to run a franchise.

Knicks fans I know here in NYC are already lamenting passing on Dennis Smith Jr. I really hope he blows up in Dallas.
