is the Yankees 101-37 record against the Twins since 2002, including 15-2 in the postseason the most lopsided record in baseball?

Like the Globetrotters vs Washington Generals, A NY dominating a (formerly) Washington team.

NY missed Berrios in both series this season, that helped. Also Buxton is still out and he might be their MVP, 52-23 when he plays this year and now 9-17 when he doesn't. He has been a solid hitter and is a great baserunner but also he chases down so many rockets that his replacements can't. Their lineup is terrifying now, though, the best it has been at any point in the run under discussion.

"From @StatsBySTATS: The Yankees have won 13 straight season series against the Twins (2007-19), tied for the longest streak in any matchup since divisional play began in 1969 (Dodgers over Pirates, 2001-13). The record is *37* straight for the Yankees over the A's from 1932-68!"

Updated number including the playoffs:

"Twins are 37-99 (.272) vs. the Yankees since 2002, including the playoffs, which is equivalent to a 44-118 record in a 162-game season."

Hope the Yankees win the last game or 2 vs. the Twins this year. All 4 of the Red Sox WS wins this century have come when Twins win exactly 2 regular season games v. the Yankees.

Edit: Yay, 2-4 now!

Your wish is granted, season series is now done at 4-2 NY, postseason meetings aren't in that first post.

Yeah but for the second half of that run the A's were literally in the tank to help the Yankees.

A’s manager/owner Connie Mack invented tanking and selling off star players and he started doing it during World War I.

I bet Gardenhire still wakes up in a cold sweat whenever he dreams about the Twins in the playoffs.

Ironically, if they hadn't been so insistent on small ball (including yelling at Ortiz for hitting a double or something in a game where Gardenhire wanted him to bunt), they might have done better.

The Red Sox went 2-20 vs. the Indians in 1954 and lost their first three games against them the next season. That may not be a record but I recall the '54 season when Cleveland, who won 111 in regular season, got swept in the World Series.

If you go back to 1899, the Cleveland Spiders went 20-134, including 11-101 on the road (after their first 16 home game only averaged 199 paid attendance, visiting clubs refused to travel there so the Spiders went traveling and folded after the season).

These are mostly examples of good teams beating up on bad teams. What makes this streak so crazy is that the Twins have generally been good over the last 15 years.

Yeah, my post was pushing the line of obnoxiousness, sorry. Also you can't hurt my feelings about 2004, BOS was better than NY in both 2003 and 2004 (after the trading deadline) and was lucky that Grady gave them a year reprieve.

Those Indians teams did even more damage to the Orioles, going 72-16 (.818) against them from 1953-56. Extending it back to 1946, they were 177-65 -- a .731 winning percentage against the Browns/Orioles over an 11-year span. I'd imagine the Yankees had similar if not better stretches against the Browns or Senators, but I'm literally just back-of-the-enevoloping this.

As for current streaks, keep an eye on the Indians-Tigers series over the next couple of years. Cleveland is 58-17 (.773) against Detroit since the start of the 2016 season, including their current 18-game winning streak. That's a smaller sample than the Yankees current stretch against Minnesota, but a much better winning percentage.

It’s at 111-39 now after NY’s impressive comeback last night.
Impressive? ... The Twins could be leading 22-0 in the 9th with two out and 0-2 on the final Yankee batter -- a pitcher who had to hit because a DH took the field -- and I still wouldn't bet on Minnesota winning.

To put the 39-111 in perspective (.260), if they played two series a year - a 3 gamer and a 4 gamer - and lost the 3 gamer 2-1 and the 4 gamer 3-1 - they'd have a record of 43-108. It's so unfathomably bad.
