I store a lot of movies/TV shows via Plex and Amazon video on my phone. That and photos, and I've blown through my 128GB storage.
It's the video that really hogs the memory, especially TV shows and movies. I just loaded every picture, and there are thousands, I have taken since 2004 onto a backup drive and it took up only 70GB.

I am very interested to hear if you keep the unlimited data. I am also grandfathered in on AT&T for that. I did not pre-order the 7 this morning because we're in the middle of a fairly major renovation on the house and we need to see how the finances shake out (read: how far over budget it gets) before we upgrade the phones. The Next plan is interesting for the quick upgrade purposes so I might try to sell that to my wife as an option. If the unlimited data goes bye bye it would be a total non-starter.
Yes, please report back on that unlimited data plan. That would be a deal breaker for me.
So far, so good. Got my phone, got it activated, and plans all showing the same. Nothing has changed on my end (other than the NEXT charges being added), will keep an eye on my next bill.

Now to go and trade in my 6 for the $650 in statement credits to help offset the cost of this phone. Not a bad deal!

As far as the phone goes, I like it but it's going to take time getting used to the size of the 7+. Other than that I love the matte black color and speed of it.

Gboard has had the gif feature for a while now but I still prefer the native Apple keyboard. Deleted Gboard right after the update.

A Lost Time
So yesterday, I upgraded from the 4s to the 6se. Everything seems faster and better, but to me - even the SE- seems too large for one hand use. My thumb aches as I try to use it as I did my 4s. Hopefully I ll get used to it.

Oh and btw, lost amid the hoopla, Apple has reduced the prices for the SEs by $50. I hadn't caught whiff of that at all until I tried to complete the purchase.

As for those interested in the 7, I think the store I visited was completely out of them.

The speakers are much, much louder and you can notice the stereo.
It's interesting this and other comments about the stereo effect because this iPhone 7 teardown indicates there are two speaker grills but still only one speaker:
Many had hoped that Apple's decision to remove the headphone jack in its iPhone 7 would result in dual speakers. The deconstructions reveal that Apple hasn't actually installed a second speaker in place of the headphone jack. Instead, eliminating the headphone jack made room for the taptic engine that powers its Home button and, apparently, funnels some sound from that button, according to iFixit. To the disappointment of many, there is not another speaker behind the smartphone's second grille.
As expected, that second speaker grill is totally fake, and a rubber bumper covers it from the back to keep water from getting in.
Link.

It will take a bit, but you will. I still have no idea why Apple (and most app developers) don't put most of the buttons at the bottom of the screen, where you thumb is, but that's another question for another day. Even the 6S and 7 would be decent one-hand phones if they just treated the top of the screen as viewing area.

Preach! I'm been beating this drum since the release of the 6 and they decided the solution was to double tap the Home button to shift icons down. New apps should auto-fill from the bottom up and they should free up the grid to allow vacant spots while they are at it.

So, since this is sort of related to the iphone7, I'll ask my question here. I am upgrading from the 5s to the 6s and ordered it online. I got a great deal on the 128gb version. Placed the order last Friday, and it is on backorder. I tried to use online chat to get an ETA on how long it will take for my phone to get to me, but they wouldn't say anything about dates.

Does anyone else have experience with delays like this? Am I going to be waiting a month to get my phone?

It's cool how they changed the placement of the camera lenses just enough so that the previous generation cases won't work.
Depends on what case you have. My old one didn't. My buddies fits just fine. I kind of wanted a new case anyway so it didn't bother me all that much and I buy them on amazon where they are a fraction of the cost if you buy from a big box store or direct from the companies site. A Spigen case that was $40 on their site I got for $12 on Amazon before he phone had even shipped.

Isn't Amazon starting to stop selling knockoffs under brand names?

I basically quit using them when they started that bullshit. Unethical as can be

I've got a 6+ with a camera probem, where the focus seems to malfunction and the camera goes all "squiggly." I looked up the solution on youtube, and any suggest fix does not seem very satisfactory or easy to pull off. I'm two months away from 2 year anniversary with phone. Make sense to get 7? We're on Verizon family plan with 4 phones, a couple other devices and wife handles the bill, so I'm not too concerned about plan issues beyond cost of new phone.

EDIT - Verizon

I ended up going with Apple's upgrade program doing $35.37/month payments over the next 2 years. The big difference for me is that as far as I could tell the AT&T option was going to require a new 2 year contract which would mean the phone was locked. With the Apple program, the phone is unlocked from the start. We're thinking about a trip to Ireland sometime in the next 18 months and being able to pop in a local SIM card is a major plus.

Upgrading from the 5 to the 7 is a nice jump. I'm very happy with the phone so far.

Good chance it was counterfeit.
My case? Considering it came in the exact same packaging as the one at Best Buy, looks exactly the same and was available before the phone even was, I doubt it. But even if it was, wtf do I care, it functions exactly the same. Either way I think it's kind of silly to complain about having to buy a new case for a new phone.

That's how counterfeits work.

That's funny right there.

Love Apple but they've done some pretty fucked up things recently. Wonder if there is any pressure on Cook starting to fester.

Did anyone else update to the 10.1.1 operating system? And has anyone else found it to be an utter mess?

Often can't load Safari pages (they freak out and reload every second -- cleared browsing history, which worked... for 10 minutes) and apps crash on launch 50% of the time (Google Maps, GMail).

After a few weeks with the iPhone 7, I'm slowly getting used to life after my beloved (if combustible) Note 7. I miss the Android keyboard. A lot. And there are a few minor quirks here and there that drive me a little crazy. But I've noticed that it's painfully easy to click an ad when scrolling through content on a browser or the SoSH app. Does anyone else have this problem? It takes precious little pressure to open the ad (when all I'd like to do is scroll past it).

As an older dude, I am always pretty far behind the times as far as technology goes, and that hasn't changed. I picked up an iphone 7 last night, as my 6 was dying. I am not a fan of adding the cost of the phone to my monthly bill, but whatever, I wasn’t going to fork over $750 up front. Physically it is identical to my 6, and my case from my fits it almost perfectly. I’ll have to trim down the hole for the camera lens, but that’s it. Functionally it works the same, but wow it is a lot faster. I am not sure I like the new home “button”, but that will just take some getting used to. We'll see how the battery does, but it might be hard to tell as the battery on my 6 was really crapping out.

The battery on the 7 is amazing compared to the 6. Mine is still going really strong, I make it through the day with 50+% left no problem.

So, I have had the iPhone 6 for nearly two years and just in the past 48 hours the battery is dying rapidly. When I look at the battery usage and it says the calendar's background activity is using the greatest percentage of the battery. I barely use the calendar (maybe once a week, if that). I have background app refresh disabled.

Any fix for this?

If you bring it to the Apple Store they have a tool to check the battery health.

Are you on the latest version of iOS? Maybe updating will help?

If it's definitely a 6 and not a 6S this won't help, but for some 6S they will replace the battery for free:

https://www.apple.com/support/iphone6s-unexpectedshutdown/

I had one of these and it took them an afternoon to do the full replacement.

Two years of daily charging is about all I expect from a battery. I would get a new one...should be $70 or so from most iFix places

Yes, I am on 10.3.2

After poking around a bit on the Apple forums it sounds like this is a problem for quite a few people, and there does not seem to be a solid solution.
UPDATE:
I removed all my email account and calendars, rebooted the phone, added the accounts again...it seems to have done the trick, for now.

Getting an iPhone through a new job i just accepted.

Is there a way to send one message to all my contacts alerting them of my new phone # without it being sent as a group message?

I.e. i just want to text a note saying to delete my old # to all my contacts, but on their end i want it to show up as just a single.text from me.

Thanks in advance.

I believe if you turn off the Group Messaging option in Settings then individual messages will be sent to each person in the group you select.

So, just curious if anyone else has seen this -- My iPhone 7 arbitrarily decides not to charge/connect to my Macbook. Headphones still work, but no charging at all. And then, out of the blue, it will be fine again, usually 4-2 hours later. I don't think it's a physical issue, but who knows? My phone is less than a year old, so I'm a bit irked. I also cringe at the thought of swinging by the Apple store; we have only one in the area, and it's always ridiculously packed.

I've tried hard resets and switching battery modes a number of times. Some of that seemed to work initially, but I'm wondering if it's coincidental.

Any thoughts among the wise elders?

Have you tried a new charging cord?

Edit: also, do you carry in your pocket? That port gets crushed up with dust pretty easy, might be worth taking an old (dry) toothbrush to it.

Yup, I tried a variety of cords/chargers, and it doesn't make a difference. Good call on the lint, though. I blasted an unsettling chunk out of the port with a can of compressed air. Maybe I should clean it more thoroughly.
