Apple Watch instead of iWatch.  They seem to be moving away from "i" nomenclature.

Does it have it's own radio or does it have to be tethered to your iPhone?

Are they going to make a left-handed version? You can't wear that on your right wrist and use the dial with your left hand.

I hope they have some of these in the Leftorium

As a left handed person it'd be a pain in the ass to use.

Real question.  Don't most people hate when they see someone else wearing their watch out in the wild?  Why would I want to wear an iWatch (or whatever it's called) and then see another 100 people per day wearing the same thing?

I would imagine that there's a lefty mode (i.e., upside-down).

Doesn't sound like its going to be functional in many ways without an iPhone.

Honest question.  How many men have square watches as their everyday watch?

I would have never even considered a square watch.  Wearables are different I guess.

I'm confused. Normal watches don't need their screens flipped upside down - this is constructed like a normal watch. I get why the Galaxy Gear Fit needs to flip given its orientation, but not this one... Is it about the winding wheel?

Interesting they mentioned the charger but nothing about battery life, which could really be the make/break factor. Going to have to get 1 day + per full charge.

Yes. How would it work on your right arm without reaching over the watch face? The solution would be able to have a lefty setting in which the button is on the left side, so it can be easily accessed with your left hand.

"Meant to be worn all day" so my guess is it should last at least 24 hours.

Totally. I don't see any watch, apple or google, catching on. Speaking as a man, watches are the one accessory we get to have (aside from a good scarf, amirite, Corsi?) and you want me to look like everyone else in that regard?

It seems like a colossal waste of money on their part.

Yes. With the wheel on the right side, if its on your left wrist as a righty its in the right place to use it. Put it on your right wrist and try to use it w/left hand, your hand is covering the screen and contorted incredibly awkwardly. I suppose you couldd just use it upside down but that seems inelegant.

It needs an iPhone.  Would have been really impressive if they decoupled the two.

Not really, unless they want to corner the market on joggers.
Given how health centric this thing is don't you think that is a significant market segment for them?

Apple will never play nice with others.
I didn't expect it to work with other devices.  It's not just Apple.  It would have been cool if you could go for a run with just your watch instead of strapping you iPhone to your arm.

The walking directions thing is pretty cool if you're in an unfamiliar city and don't want to have your phone out looking like an idiot following directions on it.

But really you will just be staring at your wrist instead of phone, with a much smaller screen.

This is a point where AT&T could go back to hammering Verizon (which they had a great advantage which they fumbled... because nearly all the examples were in places where a Verizon user could get Wifi). "Let me hang up so I can follow some directions".

I have an android wear watch (LG G) for about a month now, and so far this is the only feature that has wow'd me on it. It's basiclally a remote for my phone.

The Apple watch, as expected, seems a little more functional (so far).

No, they said it will pulse to tell you left or right, o you don't need to look at it at all.
