Introducing Statlas: data visualization and discussion of every pitch/play of every baseball game

[Paradigm]

A few SoSHers may remember that, during the 2013 postseason, I posted data visualizations of each Red Sox game. SoSHers were overwhelmingly generous with their support, and all of your feedback helped us reach today's open beta release of Statlas (www.statlas.co).
 
Statlas now covers all 30 MLB teams and displays every game, every day. The box scores populate in near real-time, so you can follow along as games are being played. "At the plate" shows every batter, base movement, and result. "On the mound" shows every pitch, its velocity, pitch type, and result.
 
Additionally, we're interested in generating dialogue around each game (and eventually, individual plays), so we've added discussion features. Here's last night's Red Sox game, for instance.
 
We still have a lot to work on, and there are some bugs on the site. Extra innings aren't rendering correctly, and there are a few data hiccups here and there. Also, it's buggy in Safari (Chrome and Firefox work well). And there's just a lot more we want to do to make the site better. If you see anything at all, let me know.

Using Firefox.. Last Nights Game link worked fine.. the two to your home page had a 404 error.  The Red Sox page from last nights game was awesome and I look forward to watching the game on the site.. great stuff.

Really nice work.
 
A small constructive criticism, but I do think the visualization style needs to be refined a bit to make it less confusing.  For me it's difficult to easily decipher the information at a glance without slowly tracing the hierarchy of plays.  This may be as a result of the design choice where you've linked the base running with the win expectancy. Having the baserunner's visualization moves both horizontally and vertically clutters the info because a hitters path around the bases moves horizontally across 1rst, 2nd, 3rd, to home, but their path also moves vertically across the batter's names that follow them in the order (So, Jose Altuve starts on his own dedicated line but then advances onto Jesus Guzman's- at a glance whose diamond is whose?).  When there's a really busy inning it get's particularly confusing.  Maybe there's a different way to show win expectancy in relation to baserunning, or maybe add some mouseovers ("Jose Altuve advances to third on a single by Jesus Guzman").  Just a thought.
