Infected Windows? New free tool may bring you peace of mind

You don't use any AV software or you don't update it and things don't see to be 'right'. Or you're more knowledgeable, you have new software and you know there are sites that will scan it online against 50+ AV companies to check it's OK:

https://www.virustotal.com/
http://virusscan.jotti.org/en

but both have rather small limits on the size program you can upload to scan...what to do ?

Crowd Inspect is free, it doesn't even need to be installed, you can throw it onto a thumb drive and run it from there...
What does it do ?

No it doesn't scan software prior to install so it can't eliminate all risk, what it does is scan every running process on your computer (interface looks a lot like Process Explorer, a tool many techies use to see what's actually running with more detail and info than Task Manager reveals) and then here's the trick, it scans every process for common vulnerabilities, shows every connection the process is making to the Net in detail (UDP/TCP, local port, remote port, Remote IP, current state and more) and, as long as you're connected to the Net, it runs a scan of EVERY process against 9 AV databases. Since it's totally free, everybody should have a copy lying around as a quick way to get a handle on what may be going on.

Yeah it's very techie, but even a novice can read the scan results and if they all come back false you're probably OK.

Get CrowdInspect here:

If I can't tell if you're human or a spammer, that's probably not a good thing.

I thought the exact same thing as Jnai. Your post was barely literate while also being completely out-of-the-blue.

Spamming random Newegg deals isn't much better, either.

Several people have found the posting of real bargains useful, as are the techie threads on building computers and related threads. I've helped more than a few people find much better bargains in computers here in the last few months, not to mention a bunch of technical issues like OttoC in this thread http://sonsofsamhorn.net/topic/82370-problems-dismounting-usb-drives/.

As for the barely literate crack, please be more specific...I'm all ears as to exactly what sort of literary embellishment you require when trying to describe a really good piece of freeware. I'm sorry it so greatly offends you, I was under the impression that's exactly the sort of thing you do in a Tech forum.

Oh and I don't post "random" deals, I post the ones that are really good bargains or finds or otherwise are unusually useful, and always try and explain why it's a good deal. Even if you're not in the market for the stuff at the moment, it helps people understand the best current pricing.

Wow, racist much ? For the record, NH attorney, born in The Bronx, and the heritage is German Jewish on both sides. Of course, considering the sheet you seem to be wearing, perhaps that's just as offensive ?

Are you sure it was the Bronx and not Guangzhou? The letters are so close to each other on the keyboard, it's easy to get confused.

OMG, there are Chinese spammers? I'm going there tomorrow. Does anyone know how Couperin47 is written in Chinese? I could ask around.
