Barnes was great at not walking batters to begin the year. Unfortunately his walk rate has regressed to his career norm and is approaching last season's career high.

Regression to the suck is an underappreciated concept.

another thing high walk rates do is make every inning 20-30 pitches, even though this should be a low leverage inning for Barnes against the bottom of their order. those add up.

they're going to add a reliever or two, but who knows how good they'll be even if it's a guy with great stats this year like Will Smith.

Only second series loss at home for the Twins. I’ll go out on a limb and guess the other one was the Yankees. Very big win.
They lost 3 out of 4 to Toronto on Apr.15-18. They haven't hosted the Yankees yet.

Dammit, you made me look. It's not surprising that a team that was just swept by the Cincinnati Reds would be losing to the Yankees. Something is up with the Astros (I guess I mean "down"), but I don't know what it is.

Altuve has been shit. That certainly doesn’t help. I’m just annoyed that the Yankees lost half their roster and played better than they were expected to at full health.

HOU is still missing Springer and Correa, definitely a good time to catch them plus even though it is a four game set, NY misses Cole.

TB just had a brutally painful loss if that helps, it looked like they had broken open a 1-1 game with 3 in the top of the 9th off Treinen, until Castillo gave up 4 in the bottom of the 9th with two outs, capped by a walkoff three run HR by Matt Chapman, OAK 5-4.

BOS only 2 1/2 behind TB now, who are struggling (Meadows is as cold now as he was hot for months, .587 OPS in June before another 0-4 with 3 Ks tonight).
