JDM looks like crap. Why?
From May 27-June 14: 14 g, .322/.375/.746/1.121, 6 homers
Since then (not counting tonight): 4 g, .136/.174/.318/.492, 1 homer

Pretty obvious just a small sample size. Nothing to worry about, unless his back is acting up.

The Red Sox just refuse to take pitches. It's infuriating.

They faced the entire Twins staff last night for 68 PAs and had two walks -- one intentional. Jackie's at bat was the biggest at bat of that inning and it's like Sandy, Beni and JD weren't even paying attention. You keep the line moving and get hittable pitches by being patient but the Sox are swinging at everything. Everything. Anything that might look like a strike 20 feet from the plate and they will fucking swing.

17 hits last night and they just couldn't keep the line moving and again, they give away the chance to knock a starter out early against a team with a taxed bullpen. That fucker was on the ropes. Just make him prove it.

Edit: 66 PAs.

How about those two extra-innings at-bats for Vazquez with runners on third and less that two out? Classic.

Yeah, and JD especially. In these two games, he's only seen 33 pitches in 10 PAs and he has swung at 20 of them.

Sox just are hacking away.

Good job by Eduardo there. Kepler scares me
Did you know that both his parents were ballet dancers and that he grew up in Germany?

Since that only gets repeated approximately every four times he bats I thought it might be a good idea to remind folks so nobody forgets.

So are people OK with Xander K'ing there because he took a couple of fastballs over the plate? Cora wants them to be aggressive on pitches in the strike zone. Blame the quality of contact and not the aggressiveness.

You can't just take pitches to take them, of course. If they really can't recognize pitches, then I guess they have to swing and hope but we have some pretty good hitters. You have to put the pitchers under pressure to get the ones you can handle.

Yeah, sometimes the best pitch you see in an at bat is the first one. But not that often. And it seems pretty clear that the Twins are understanding how to use the Red Sox uber-aggressiveness against them.

I thought there might have been a play at the plate there. I guess the ball died on the outfield grass.
