In Which the Boston Team Excels

It was a calm, balmy evening in Minneapolis, usually a Frigid Outback suited only for Wolves. The Boston Nine (plus), Ashamed and Contrite about their failures the previous evening, after apologizing profusely to their Hero, BROCKHOLT, for stranding him alone on the bases, remembered how to Take Pitches and do the "Little Things" that win Ballgames. They moved batters over, hit the balls where the opponents weren't, Etc. The team easily re-established its Northeastern Dominance over the Mid-western Upstarts, and a New Streak began.

Minnesota should be ashamed to operate a ballpark like that. Twins fans should just lock themselves into a pinball machine with the volume turned up to 10 since they apparently can't enjoy baseball without constant artificial noise and flashing lights. Their 24-12 home record is because visiting teams have migraines by the 5th.

Beat this ballpark. Wear shades and earplugs. Then come home to real baseball.

Or, just win.

So the poster who asks others to put the game time in the opening post of a game thread not only doesn't do that, they don't even bother to put the date?

Kind of a big game tonight. A win and the Sox are players on the rise, a loss and they are a talented underachieving team running out of time.

It feels like every week has exactly these two feelings in a cage match and neither emerges.

Fuck the Twins. They will play the Sox tough and then when October starts, they will resume their Washington Generals routine when they play the MFYs.

Punish them tonight for their repeated October hatefulness.

I've said this a couple times, but the Yanks are having our season last year to date, roughly. much better RISP, everything going right.

Just five games until Steven Wright returns. They just need to tread water and hold on.

Is Velazquez really injured again? After giving up the homer to Kepler, he looked fine, didn't he? (I was half-asleep, so not sure.)
He supposedly tweaked his back warming up for the 17th, which is why Johnson volunteered to come in.

Do we really expect that much out of a guy who hasn't really pitched in almost two seasons? I know he's a knuckleballer but the likelihood of him being the messiah seems low.

I believe he will win 10 games as a starter, also be our closer, and hit against lefties for Mookie. He will change everything. Everything.

Yankees are scaring me again. will the banged up Astros really be able to slow them down?

at least the 1st WC is in possible reach? I guess we're still in worry about ourselves mode.

As long as we are in a one game winner moves on/loser goes home scenario, I’m nervous, but that’s probably the best this season will come down to//love to be proven wrong and all that.

I love him. He is better than Cats. I am going to see him again, and again, and again.

Yup. If it weren't for the domestic violence and the cheating, I would think naming the park after him would really have to be under serious consideration.

Maybe start by renaming Yawkey Way for him.

Also win tonight please.

The cradle of the game.
If you were to tell me 30 years ago that Jim Ed Rice would one day be a Chatty Cathy, breaking down hitters in a tv studio on a nightly basis, I would have called you crazy.

Good idea there, using JD as a decoy in the outfield. I love where this is headed.
