RS 88
Not my best RS, but by far the fastest. My only concern was did Dave Winfield have a 100 RBI season with the Padres, he did 1 time.

9/9, 24.

This was quick and easy, and since I was never going to remember Phil Nevin hitting 40 home runs for the Padres, I think it's about as good as I could have done.

9/9 - If Yolmer didn't play for the Red Sox last year and the announcers talking about him winning a GG, I wouldn't have gotten that square. The only other player I could think to fit there was Buehrle, and I already used him.

9/9, RS 5

Got my 2nd lowest score ever. Red Sox history always comes in handy! For a player who played for the Sox & STL 2 guys came to mind from the 70's I had either
Dick Schofield or Phil Gagliano
I chose the latter and got a 0.6 but I think either would've probably been about the same.

Dale Alexander
was one of my other Sox picks he won a batting title with limited at bats.

For my 9th pick I took a gamble - a Giants player with 200 hits, first thought was
Bill Terry
but I iwas afraid he'd blow it up so I gambled and went with
Fred Lindstrom

These are way more fun when there are no expansion teams. This was pretty quick and I still got one of my top 5 scores.

9/9 rs 23. One of my better ones as well. And I'll agree once again that the grids without any post-70's expansion teams are a lot more fun. In other news, I'm old.

Just missed being Immaculate with my best rarity score ever. I would have sworn Will Clark had 200 hits in a season.

2 rarity, believe that ties my second best ever. Truly a throwback grid. Anyone here with firsthand stories of these guys? Even if it's like what your father said.

Am I misunderstanding how this works?

I just put in an answer for someone who pitched for the Angels and Braves.

If you didn't come from Framingham, MA or Marian High School or the U of New Haven, I doubt you would have heard of the man. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/s/schulda01.shtml Blew out his arm and pitched a tiny bit 5 years later for an awful Braves team. Ended up being a pitching coach for various organizations.

Somehow, when I chose him, it came up 100%. Should have been the lowest of the low, there are 126 guys who played for both teams.

If you play early enough, you can 100% or even 0%. I guess it takes a while to calibrate the percentages. By the way, great get he is now at .04%

I did pretty good for me, 59 for a Reality Score.

I thought I was being clever by picking….

Randy Johnson for the Astros and Nationals. He was only on the Astros in 1998, and he was never actually on the Nationals… but he was an Expo in 1988-89, far before he was relevant.

Really thought he’d slide under the radar, but he was a 29% pick.

With his height, I don't think he's sliding under much of anything, let alone the radar. ;) I also picked him.

And once again, having read Ball Four a dozen times pays off...

I've found that folks are pretty tuned into the Expos/Nationals picks. Lately I've not been fairing all that well in terms of completions or RS, today was a different story. Today's grid seemed to fall into place using multiple, past, low scoring faves. 9/9... my all time low RS of 6...3 Red Sox.

Sandy Leon 0.4% Jeff Juden 0.2% Ellis Valentine 0.6%
Ray Fosse 0.3% Jim Wynn 2% George Scott 0.3%
Kevin Plawecki 0.3% Rusty Staub 1% Willie Mays 0.7%

Yeah I fall back on Ball Four a lot too, in this case using Bouton in the center square like you. I didn't use Mike Hegan today, but I did use him recently on a Brewers/Yankees square. I need to remember to use Gary Bell for a Sox/Brewer square.

9/9 RS 16, one of my better ones. Used one of my binkies from growing up, Tommie Agee

As far as I can figure, this is a new personal best: 9/9. RS: 5

No score higher than 1%... and I'm happy any time I can use the immortal Brad Komminsk.

So I did the "all-time great who played briefly for this team" thing with the top row, to mixed results. I didn't think Steve Carlton would give the lowest score of the three. This one was still made for me, used mostly 50's and 70's guys. 9/9 RS 19

Pretty pleased with the 26. I was afraid the 500 HR thing would blow it up for me. Lucky I remembered where to use

8/9, 128... because I forgot Jim Konstanty's great season was prior to the Cy Young Award and so it was the MVP award that he won.

A quick and easy 9/9, 13... although I'm pretty sure the entire Astros column was a recent repeat (between this and the Crossover grid).

On a somewhat related note, if the Braves can complete the comeback and advance to the NLCS, Dallas Keuchel will have to decide which of his four former teams to root for, but no one has ever played for all of Texas, Houston, Arizona and Philadelphia.

Early members of the National League are fun, but I'm kicking myself for being one of the 13% who thought Bobby Bonds would be a clever answer.

Your grids have become one of the most consistently entertaining highlights of my day! WTF has even heard of the likes of Slim Sallee, Kiki Cuyler, and Rube Marquard, let alone knows which box to put them in? I am in awe and grateful for your ability to make me spit out my coffee in hysterics every morning!

Thanks, it's weird that I can use Kiki Cuyler (the first 3 syllables all sound the same because it was what the fielders yelled to communicate it was his fly ball) at least once a week on these things just because he had 200 hit/.300 ba, 30+ SB seasons for both the Cubs and Pirates and is in the Hall of Fame without really being famous.

StMic had 3 of the same answers I did today and I would have gone with Eppa Rixey too if I hadn't remembered Slim Salee as part of the Black Sox World Series. Unfortunately, I've reached the age where I can remember what players from 10 years ago accomplished and who they played for but can't think of their names.

It mostly started with getting this for Christmas in my early teens...

Playing lots of old-timer Strat-O-Matic baseball in the 70's has come in very handy with these grids. Very impressed with lots of your grids as well. I got a lot of my old time baseball knowledge from my Dad. He loved Jimmie Foxx!
