I have a MacBook Air from work. I hate it, and it hates me. It will not boot after I attempted to accept some software and possibly OS updates. I got on the chat with the Apple support people, tried a series of basic troubleshooting steps, and no dice. For the record, I know jack and shit about Apple products, and am finding the transition from PC to be frustrating.
So there's an Apple store that's about 8 miles from me. But it's kind of an annoying drive. I could bring this thing into work on Monday and give it to IT, but it's the only computer that I have Excel and Word on, and I needed to do some work this weekend. Yeah, I could use the Google cloud apps that mimic office, but it's not the same, and for a variety of reasons that's a pain for me. Plus there's some files I think I don't have on my own laptop.
Anyway, I really don't want to drive to the store if it's going to be a waste of time. I'm sure a bunch of people here must have been to Apple stores before - I never have - are the people at the stores generally pretty successful at fixing these things? I don't care if I need to pay them some relatively small amount of money. It's more about driving to this place on a Saturday when I could be sitting on my ass watching TV.
