Huh. I wonder what those other opportunities are. Is he a managerial candidate?

Hyers is a west coast guy, right? With Donnie Ecker heading from SF to Texas, and shakeups in Oakland and San Diego, I wonder if he wants to (or is aware that he is an inside candidate) for a coaching role out there?

Buster Olney seems to think that he may be headed to a college program.

McAdam had this on Monday:

With Hyers out of the picture, the Red Sox are poised to elevate assistant hitting coach Pete Fatse, who joined the Red Sox from the Minnesota Twins after the 2019 season.

It's possible Fatse, a native of western Mass. who played college ball at the University of Connecticut, could share the position as co-hitting coach with a new staff hire, but either way, he'll be elevated on the staff.

Among the candidates the Sox could consider for their new position is Rich Gedman, who has served as the organization's Triple-A hitting coach -- first for Pawtucket, and last year, Worcester, his hometown -- for the last seven seasons.

I get if he wanted to return to college, but Boston to Texas? Feels like something has gone unreported here on why he left.

Oh well, good luck Tim.

I think it was Pete Abe who said that the Sox may want to reconsider how much they pay their coaches in todays Notes column in light of Hyers leaving. So maybe it was over money and he felt underpaid?

You think that Tampa Bay pay scale came back to bite?
