I’ve seen it suggested many times that people should “take the political talk to V&N,” but I cannot for the life of me locate it.
Where is it, please? So that I may take it there.
Now you're a member. As Papelbon suggests, wade in gently.Members only
See? One does not find V&N. V&N finds youNow you're a member. As Papelbon suggests, wade in gently.
Ah ha!
Thank you. I will most certainly wade gently.
This is the correct answer. I miss the sandbox.People speak far more openly knowing it's a somewhat private forum. If lurkers can view it then essentially anyone can, and that'd be the end of that
(just one man's opinion)
You have to earn Membership, grasshopperCan somebody point me in the right direction for V&N also.
You should be able to see it now.I can't seem to find it, either. There was a thread I was following closely that was likely moved there. Can someone help? (Will also wade in very gently)
If you respect the poster, that person probably isn't posting in V&N.Has it ever been considered to make V&N a read only forum for lurkers? I would get a lot out of reading takes from posters on this board who’s opinions I respect. I think others would benefit as well. I know it would be better than the quality of posts that come across my FB feed.

First one needs to be promoted from lurker to member, then everything is visible.Hello,
I noticed there's a subscription option for membership. Is that what is needed to unlock stuff like that? If so I'd happily pay the piper. Thanks!
The subscription option is hard to locate. And that location is here. But it only applies if you've already been made a Member.Hello,

Thanks for that. I keep forgetting. The subscription option is hard to locate. And that location is here.
Nothing (to my knowledge). During periodic software changes some members have been lurkerized automatically. I don't know why it happens nor how to fix it, so we have to deal with it ad hoc.I was a member once, now I'm back to lurker. What'd I do?
Who is your favorite lurker in the sandbox/open forums? | Sons of Sam HornPost some good stuff on the boards you are active on and ask a friendly veteran to put a good word in for you
I’d recommend adding more substance to your posts. Combing briefly through your post history it seems like a lot of Twitter links without much commentary. So is it possible to message a mod about promotion to membership or is membership something that the owners/mods grant to posters they deem worthy?
I'm open to campaigning for membership if I could be pointed in the right direction
Like that has stopped a number of promotions.I’d recommend adding more substance to your posts. Combing briefly through your post history it seems like a lot of Twitter links without much commentary.
RIP Corsi.I’d recommend adding more substance to your posts. Combing briefly through your post history it seems like a lot of Twitter links without much commentary.
Thank you CR67 really appreciate it.Welcome, Boca! You've payed your dues over 15 years and your promotion is beyond overdue. I hope what you are about to see doesn't send you running back in terror....
Can see this post now that I'm a member.
I'll see if we can get a dope to take a look at it. Keep making informative posts. You're well on your way.I've been lurking for over a decade. Happy to pay for a subscription, but until I decided to search around, I was unaware of the vouch system. Any suggestions on making inroads?
Do you have access to the other members-only forums? If so, you’re probably more likely to get a response by posting your query in Backwash.I've lost access to the V&N forum recently even though I'm still a member (as far as I can tell anyway).
No idea why.
Do I need to do something for reinstatement or did I do something to get booted?
Thanks Paul. Will doDo you have access to the other members-only forums? If so, you’re probably more likely to get a response by posting your query in Backwash.
We renamed “Lurker” to “New Member” a while ago to try to make it more welcoming.I'm not asking to be promoted to full member status, but I am curious where my new member designation falls on the lurker-to-member spectrum. I'm guessing it's a middle tier, or probationary designation?
Sorry for the late reply; thanks for the clarificationWe renamed “Lurker” to “New Member” a while ago to try to make it more welcoming.
Ultimate Warrior?? Ha"He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster. And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you."
Friedrich Nietzsche. But they're basically the same. Ha,ha.Ultimate Warrior?? Ha
I’ve been lurking here almost daily for 19 years now, so “new member” doesn’t really reflect my status. “Lurker” does feel a little creepy, but I might suggest a different title for non-posting members, maybe “Reader” or “Reading Member.” Just a thought.
