Reggie Jackson, Goose Gossage attend David Ortiz Hall of Fame ceremony

The story is behind a paywall, but it just says they both initially planned to skip the ceremony "in protest of the induction of David Ortiz over his failed PED test". I don't see it getting much play anywhere else. Have to admit I'm a bit surprised to see Reggie turn into a crotchety old man. On the other hand, I've always considered Gossage to be a complete moron.

Edit: I should note that they apparently decided to attend after all because they didn't want to offend anyone. Too late. I know I shouldn't let something like this annoy me, but I just find it disrespectful and offensive for them to even open their mouths about it to begin with.
Reggie has always been an ornery self-centered prick. Not to mention greatly overrated as a player. Fuck him. I actually took a bit of joy in how withered and old he looked today.

Neither one of those two would be mistaken for a Rhodes scholar.

Just saw the replay of the speech on NESN. Really nice job.

Ortiz was very gracious, seemed a bit humble and on a day when none of his contemporaries were enshrined, he was very respectful of the other inductees. I believe he understood the importance of the day concerning the history of Fowler and O'Neil as men of color as well as Cuban born Minoso and Oliva.

Maybe I missed it, but another name I'm surprised was left out, loathed as he may be here, is Alex Rodriguez. Besides their partnership on-air with Fox Sports, Rodriguez was famously one of the first people to see Ortiz as a great playing in the making (the famous Wisconsin Timber Rattlers HR Derby).
