The distance between Seymour and Harrison is huge. 4x first team all-pro 3x second vs 2&1. Also Seymour was on the all-decade team for the 2000’s, which is voted on by the HOF voters...if you make that...unless it is as a fullback or on special teams...you are a virtual lock to get in eventually.

Revis will get in. Does that count?

I’d love Wilfork to get in. I think he’s criminally underrated
This is why All-pro votes shouldn't be weighted so heavily. Rodney had a ton of counting stats across the board and he wasn't collecting them by risking the integrity of the defense.

Polamalu received four 1st teams and two 2nd teams, but - as noted above - he was routinely exposed by quarterbacks who were simply able to look him off. Like, Brady did it to him so many times, and the guy didn't give a fuck. He'd still gamble (and lose) routinely sniffing out the picks.

I'd have taken Rodney over Troy ten times out of ten. And Troy is in the HoF because he had big hair.

Polamalu was routinely exposed by Tom Brady. The list doesn’t go too far beyond that. Harrison will be a worthy inductee when he arrives in the hall of fame - despite not having Troy’s beautiful hair or appreciation for sportsmanship.

Rodney is definitely hurt by his reputation of being a dirty player combined with the fact he got popped for HGH.

If Rodney Harrison isn’t a Hall of Fame safety, I don’t know what is. I watched Butler, Atwater, John Lynch, all those guys play. As @Ed Hillel said, the only safety I’ve ever seen play that I would take over Rodney Harrison is Ed Reed, and they played different positions.

His playoff game log with the Pats during the back to back titles was incredible.

2003: 3 G, 2 INT, 1 FF, 24 combined tackles, 2 TFL
2004: 3 G, 4 INT, 1 FF, 23 combined tackles, 1 TFL

6 G, 6 INT, 2 FF, 47 tackles, 3 TFL. Just mind blowing.

The Patriots defense in 03 and 04 had swagger because of Rodney.

On Vermeil getting in:

Dungy was pretty much the Harold Baines pick for NFL coaches for me. Who cares who they put in now. Go head and put in Seifert or Switzer or Mike Martz or something. Dungy fell backwards into a Super Bowl against arguably the worst Super Bowl team in history. He perennially underachieved in the playoffs with Peyton Manning. Were the Tampa2 defenses good? Sure. Is that a Hall of Fame resume alone? No. 9-10 in the playoffs, 5-10 outside of the Super Bowl year. If he's a hall of fame coach, then sure, Vermeil, Kubiak, Gruden, throw them all in.

I like that football is a small hall sport, but there's not a single year of his career that Dungy was even a top 3 head coach. So Vermeil getting in doesn't bother me in the slightest. I'm sure I'm going to have a similar reaction when inevitably in five to ten years or so you have serious discussions about Sean Payton getting in the hall.

Three, you schmuck ... GRONK

edit: I'd really like to see Slater recognized ... but I suspect that's a pipedream
Slater has a good shot. He’s got the edge on Tasker in Pro Bowls and rings and has an excellent reputation amongst the football writers. And I think the possibility of being the first father-son duo in the Hall might give him an extra push.

So another burning question... why is Jerry Jones in the HoF, but not Bob Kraft? Let's see... Jerry's credentials are 3 SB championships, 3 NFC championships and 10 Division championships. Those numbers pale besides Kraft's.

Jerry Jones was inducted in 2017 - twenty-two years after the Cowboys’ dynasty ended. We should probably wait and see what happens.

On the flip side, he bought the team in 1989, so 28 years later.

Kraft bought the Pats in 1994… so 2022 is 28 years later.

Well, with one exception
You could run that same play a hundred times exactly the same way until the point where Harrison meets Tyree, and 99 of them, Tyree loses control. It was the essence of a miracle play for NY.
