I'm not calling for Bissonnette to be fired, or anything. I'm just saying he made a shitty "joke."

FWIW, the vast majority of female fans on Twitter appear to be unhappy with his comments. I do enjoy the dudes defending Bissonnette by talking about how it's just like them watching beach volleyball. Right. 'cause I'm sure you follow women's beach volleyball as closely as women follow the NHL.

I'd love to see a venn diagram comprised of dudes who think Bissonnette's comments aren't a big deal and dudes who were LIVID that Leah Hextall asked Wayne Simmonds if he's "soft."

Biz has largely (despite a past career as a womanizer) been fairly progressive on women and equal rights, etc. I think he was just trying to make a joke but it was a dumb one and thoughtless. He (and everyone defending him) should just admit he fucked up, say sorry, and try to be better. Read the fucking room Biz.

It shows some of the problems with the culture that the focus is about women loving Seguin instead of what a womanizer Seguin is (was?). The privilege to own the framing is what a lot of people miss

God, the “Guilty until proven innocent!” replies to that tweet are so depressing.

Sounds like the team must have some pretty damning information if they’re already suspending Cole.

Credible accusations should only lead to credible investigations. The results of those investigations are what should determine guilt or innocence. #MeToo was not about making accusations mean guilt, it was about ensuring that accusations were investigated properly.

What is your point?

Keep in mind, the "guilty until proven innocent" posts are MRA bullshit trolling by people whose actual interests are in ensuring that these things continue to be swept under the rug by making it seem like a suspension WITH PAY (which is what this is) pending an investigation is unreasonable instead of standard operating procedure at this point.

Is being suspended with pay an unreasonable action for TB to take given what we know of the circumstances surrounding this?

Sorry if this came out weirdly. There are a number of bad-faith claims being made by MRA's about this issue. One of them is that they are asserting that the "standard operating procedure" (from your message) so far is already treating him as guilty. My statement was an attempt to call the MRA position out as logically flawed and wrong.

Edit: While also saying that I support what is actually happening in terms of an investigation because it will be based on actual fact.

Gotcha.
