Did anyone else watch the first episode?

How does Mike McCarthy have a job?
This camp seems so laid back and not focused, which is weird for a team coming off of a 6-10 season.

It also makes me somehow even more thankful for BB when McCarthy starts talking about Mojo Moments and the impact of momentum. He is not thinking about situational football, but instead accidentally creating a belief in his team that if the moment turns against them they are in trouble.

I did.

Jerry Jones comes off as meddlesome and incompetent. Why does he need to talk to the trainer too? Was he trying to talk the trainer into letting Dak throw a little?

The Mojo thing was silly. And he ended up conflating it with “momentum” so I am not sure he even gets the point of his own gimmick.

Also it was a bit too heavy on Dak and Zeke for me.

From where I wrongly posted it yesterday.

Not sure where to put Hard Knocks comments, but I’m wondering if we can trade JoeJuan Williams and a conditional 6th for “Charlie Fuck Around” because according to Mike McCarthy “he don’t work here.”

This is undoubtedly an overreaction, but if I were a Cowboys fan, I'd be very worried after watching that episode. The only two people who didn't come off as complete blockheads were Dak and Micah Parsons.

Maybe I'm just getting old, but the inability to convey simple instructions without peppering them with "fuck" and "fucking" suggests significant insecurity to me, and it seemed like every single Cowboys coach was incapable of sharing any thought without using the word at least once. The assistant coach talking to Parsons on the phone one-on-one couldn't say five words without using "fuck." I don't know if he thinks that impresses young black kids or what.

Two final things:
(1) if you have a fancy system designed to ensure that guys do not overwork themselves early in camp, how in the hell do you not make sure your rehabbing QB doesn't blow through that number on day one?
(2) what kind of training staff diagnoses an injury and then just lets the player hang out on the sidelines instead of going in for treatment? At the very least, shouldn't he have gone straight to McCarthy and said "Hey, I need you to tell Dak to come to the locker room for treatment?"

Just to quickly respond about the F-bombs, it's more of a culture thing than anything. Ive done quite a few years of blue-collar work (dad owns drywall company) and I can tell you there's no insecurities going on - it's just how they communicate. It's tough, it's grinding, there's going to be swearing. The culture around football (or any sport) is similar. I mean there's tons of videos of BB saying fuck and I don't think there's much insecurity there.

Nope, not an overreaction at all.

Mike McCarthy bringing the heat with Austin Powers motivation? Good lord.

And Jerry Jones thinks he is a coach.

I dont think we need an NFL Films expose' to unearth that particular truth.
Precisely. Anyone who thinks this show is uncovering any kind of earth-shattering detail has missed the past 25 years of Cowboys football. That entire organization is a complete clown show from top to bottom. There might be some bright spots here and there but Jerry Jones always manages to find a way to snuff them out before too long. Wash, rinse, repeat to another season of frustrating mediocrity. They're such a dumpster fire they can't even tank a season properly.

I have no doubt the Cowboys are poorly run, but every year it seems like hard knocks gives us less of a behind the scenes look and more slow motion montages set to music.

Micah Parsons came off as a dingbat to me. A very talented and apparently very hard working dingbat but a handful and a half.

ive spent a lot of time with high priced lawyers who say fuck every fifth word (obv not in court); that certainly doesn’t bother me
