It’s crazy how shallow major league lineups are these days. That bottom of the Yankee lineup is really weak, but they really didn’t have anyone useful to PH in the 9th. Amazing how much the game has changed in the last decade or so.

I’ve been trying to figure out my dislike of Harrison Bader. There’s nothing remarkable about him. Semi talented, possibly even a decent human being. But I look at him and I just want to punch this fuck in the face. Much like I looked at Scott Brosius, who I also wanted to punch in the face for no discernible reason. Now a guy like Paul O’neill, that’s easy. You can just look at him and see why he deserves a beating. Bader is… well I don’t know. Maybe it’s just the uniform.
He used to play for the Cardinals. He's already managed to play for the 2 most bottom feeding pig fucker franchises in baseball. I'm sure that contributes.

I'm not sure what it is, either. But watching him constantly tongue his mouth guard is revolting.

This was nice, but won't matter. The Yankees will still win this series. They will win the next game, then head back to NY tied, and take it from there.

Didn’t know Jeremy Peña is a New Englander!
Go stros
Peña gives me more than all the ammo I need to root for the Astros (as opposed to “against the MFY”).

He‘s the son of former MLB infielder Geronimo Peña, who up and moved his family from the Dominican to Providence, RI for reasons I can’t figure out when young Jeremy was 9 years old. Jeremy would go on to attend my high school — Classical High -- a selective public high school known much more for its academics than its sports teams. (I’m sure we’ve produced a D1 athlete or two in the last 50 years, but a lot more accountants, doctors, and Rhode Island politicians, for better and worse).

Jeremy was drafted out of high school in like the 40th round (I’m confident other Classical ball player was ever drafted, at least I wasn’t) but went up to U Maine and became a more significant prospect, including an All Star season in the Cape League that got him up to a third rounder by Houston.

I hate looking inside his mouth while he plays with his mouth guard during his at bats. I guess the extreme close ups aren't his fault, but SHUT YOUR MOUTH!!!!

A cool and unlikely story! Love it!

I've always wished Warriors superstar Steph Curry would keep his mouthpiece where it belongs instead of chewing on it while he plays. However, I like him (except when he's playing the Celtics). With Bader, maybe it's the puffed out chest. Like a grouse?

It is really hard to cheer for either team for me in particular both starting pitchers.

Isn't Valdez the guy who put the kibosh on the Sox hopes last year?
hmmm. Was Valdez the guy that kept touching the side of his face or the guy that miraculously gained 3-4 mph between ALCS starts? Answer is yes either way.

The story I heard about Gil Hodges on that 1 for 21 he had was the parish priest (or minister) in Brooklyn said at the end of a short service on Sunday: "it's hot today, no sermon, just pray for Gil Hodges."
