Nice to see Trent making the bench for this one. Should be good to go for the big upcoming fixtures. Fabinho and Mane getting the rest today. Crazy bench today if needed - Mane, Fabinho, Diaz, Trent.

Seems like that heavy challenge by Matip on Cucho was payback for Cucho going in hard on Alisson earlier

If Fabinho had been born in Canada, he’d a top pair blue liner.

No idea what's going through Kucka's head there, but I'll take it. Nice to see VAR function as intended.

Salah hasn’t been particularly good for a couple of months now. He looks tired and seems to be trying to do too much. If I had to guess he’s stressing due to the contract situation.
He’s also played 44 matches since August, and those Egypt ones have been particularly brutal - physically and emotionally. That plus the contract…I can see why he’s flagging.

My wife just pointed out Ramadan started as well, so there will be some nutrition issues as well for a few guys.

Salah’s early season form was unsustainable. Today looked every bit a result of utter exhaustion. With the title race as it is, I’m not sure how you can get these guys the rest they need. At this point, Mo may only be capable of a 15 minute super-sub stint. He was certainly below-replacement today. Wouldn’t we be better off giving him two weeks off and getting him back to something approaching form instead of stringing his exhausted near-corpse along?

I’d give him the Benfica games off … they have enough depth what with Diaz in the fold where they don’t have to exhaust guys.

NBC forcing WWE into an EPL broadcast is inexcusable. Fuck this utter nonsense.
It’s not unnoticed to me that City are on Peacock today. They’ve been slowly migrating some of the bigger matches behind the paywall. At the start Peacock mostly held the lesser matches but today they’re broadcasting Wolves v Villa on tv

Ooooohhhh. Chelsea pinned back, Mendy with a bad give away, Toney with the chip…that floats over. Felt like the ball was in the air for 2 minutes.

can you explain? been expecting this since WWE went to Peacock (watching Goal Rush instead)
Apologies, I’ve been down with the flu (along with the rest of my family) and I wrote out a rant.

Suffice it to say I have no interest in WWE, nor do I respect it at all. I have no desire to be exposed to it, shouted at by it, or have it promoted on a Saturday morning during an otherwise peaceful broadcast that it has no relation to at all.

There is no natural crossover between the two. One is a sport, the other is a fictional event. The last thing I want on a peaceful Saturday morning is to get shouted at by some roided-up circus performers.

Peacock has Harry Potter, too, but nobody is waving magic wands at me.
I meant, who did they bring on this morning? I saw their twitter account share a clip of Rebecca's interview with a wrestler.

It seems like they've had their talent show up at previous fan fests.

Anyhow, I was expecting a half full Stamford Bridge. Seems like the "no new ticket sales" was a bit over blown

Rebecca looked pretty excited interviewing(I think) Seth Rollins. Happy for her.

Eriksen's deal is pretty strange. I guess at first it was assumed that his career was over; but then he got cleared to play. But he leaves Inter and anyone can have him, and he ends up with Brentford (likely due to the Danish connection) and it's pretty clear he can play a strong role at least off the bench for a good side. In fact, he looks like he hasn't missed a beat despite almost dying on the field less than a year ago. A lot of larger EPL teams probably wish they could have a skilled #10 like that.

Imagine if there was a team he used to play for coached by a manager he won a title with in London.

I was at weork today with the radio on, whenever they interrupted the game i was listening to with "There's been a goal at Stamford Bridge" I immediately went 'Chelsea have scored' - i was right the first time. Not having seen the match. I can't compute the result. If Arsenal win tomorrow 3rd spot is no mere pipe dream.

California. Duh.
Have to love the United fans screaming for a pen because Rashford was tripped, except it was his own teammate that he tripped over.

The offsides deprived us of a HOF level VAR review watching Elanga trip Rashford over and over in slow motion and Andre Marriner struggle trying to find a way to give the decision to United.

apparently Bayern played with 12 men briefly during their match today
I had to look this up to understand. Looks like an interesting situation.

Bayern made a double-sub. Coman was supposed to come off but the fourth official put the wrong number on the board. Two subs came on, one player came off and nobody verified it. 17 seconds were played with Coman still on the pitch.

The letter of the law is pretty simple: Bayern must forfeit the game. The reality seems more complex. It was mainly a mistake by the officials (wrong number, not having the exiting player depart before allowing the sub on- the procedure designed explicitly to prevent this). Bayern were not attempting to create an advantage, the match ended 4-1 and the outcome was not materially affected.

With no skin in the game, it will be interesting to see how this one plays out.

If Richardson ever does anything that warrants a statue he’d better have that whiny face on with his arms held out in the “What the hell?” gesture.

Creswell with an absolutely beautiful free kick.

I think Keene is lucky to just see yellow there. Antonio had a clear path ahead.

I like these Everton strips.
