Jack Morris? Guy was typically nails in a big game.
Typically? He was nails in exactly ONE game in his career. Sure it was a memorable one, but only due to an opponent's baserunning blunder, otherwise we wouldn't even remember it. Removing that game, he was 6-4 with a 4.26 ERA in the postseason. A decent enough option but throughout history there have been MANY better choices for a do or die game.

(Sorry for the rant, I grew up listening/watching the Tigers in the 1980s and have always been a Morris hater).

Hahahahaha fuck You Curt Schilling. Hahahahhaha.
Seconded.
I don’t understand the question, one guy at his peak or someone’s whole career? Either way Gibson/Pedro but you could not touch Mike Scott or Hershiser in their magical seasons.
Yeah- I am assuming it’s based on a pitchers performance in the post-season, assuming that’s somehow predictive?

Schilling and Madison Bumgarner seem like glaring omissions.

And as much as I love Pedro, he had a career 3.46 era in the postseason.

Why didn't Cleveland have a hotel booked already? Were they planning on flying out immediately after the game? What if the game went late into the night (particularly once they saw the forecast and predicted rain delays)?

The ALCS starts on Thursday so I would imagine getting home ASAP was the priority.

Do you think the Guards packed for two nights in Houston after losing Game 4? Gotta think positive.

where I was last at
IIRC God Boy was a half-decent post-season pitcher, who generally won his starts (usually game 2) several times after a previous game loss.

Although I may be misremembering.

I mean, yes (or at least that the team could supply what they'd need in Houston)? I'm no logistics expert to be sure but I wouldn't expect they'd fly to Ohio for half a day to grab clean undies in between ALDS game 5 late Monday in NY and ALCS game 1 Wednesday in Houston.

It starts Wednesday (tomorrow). So I would have expected their best case scenario plan to be to fly to Houston this morning after winning last night to rest up for game 1 tomorrow.

Oops. I guess that proves I'm not planning ahead like I would be if the Sox were in it.

I don't think it's that common for a team to hang out in a visiting city after a series wraps up, regular season or playoffs. They tend to get out of there to their next stop as soon as possible

Pedro keeps calling them the Indians. Did the same thing last night except maybe once and I think somebody had just nudged him and said hey, they're the Guardians now!

I think we're still pretty safely in the "that was innocent" transition period. Most people haven't thought of Cleveland baseball since they were the Indians. Gotta be even harder for an actual player to untrain your brain.

Doesn't bother me.
1. It's Pedro
2. I haven't figured out what Guardians means yet anyway. I know, I could Google it, or Duck Duck Go it (my wife uses them).

I’m constantly about to say ‘Indians,’ so I get it. It doesn’t help that ‘Guardians’ is not a memorable name, similar to the Washington ‘Commanders.’

I’m still not totally locked in with the San Die-Los Angeles Chargers, so I might just be a dummy.

He was pretty great in 1984/1991 yeah? Not great in 1992 for Blue Jays but his performance in the1984 and 1991 (4-0 with an ERA below 2, I think) World Series was pretty stellar.

I found my way around FUBO not having any turner channels. Spansh language broadcast on MLB network. It's actually kind of cool to listen to, and can always turn down and go with music for a break(apologies if anyone else covered this). Anyway, let's go Guards. Elimination day!
