Dunno. It's hard to weight, which of course is the fun of this. WC seems to figure heavily OTOH with someone like Emi Martinez getting 20th overall, but then on the other hand Salah well off his best and no WC isn't even top 10 in the PL for me.

Heavy World Cup bias.

Emi Martinez at #20? Otamendi anywhere on the list?

Even though he won the world cup, IDK how you can watch the World Cup Final and think Messi is still better than Mbappe; let alone comparing their performances over the last 365 days at the club level.

I always think these lists weigh much to heavily on status and to the big clubs; so that if you are a starter on Real Madrid you are automatically better than the best player on Sevilla or Frankfurt or Newcastle, etc. They are just a dumb exercise but kind of fun to debate and contrast; I think it's way to hard to compare different positions anyway.

I think Messi dragged his team to the world cup.. Mbappe had a lot more help IMO.. but both of them were pretty freakin good in the finale and WC in general.
