Joe D. is great. I don't know who Gresh is but this is a win for Hartford. This replaces John Rowland's show and gives a local sports alternative to Rob Dibble.

You might want to give him a listen before declaring this a win.

You have never heard Dibble on his own.

Also the bar for wins for Hartford is low. For example:

-no one shot today = winning
-mayor not indicted = winning
-business deciding not to leave = winning
-a bus from New Britain to Hartford = winning
-minor league hockey team name gets changed to "the Whale" = winning
-most read sports columnist in the state goes a day without publically humilate a college intern = winning
-we get Chik Fil A = winning

These are just a few examples of what winning looks like in my corner of the world.

I think Ice Cube once wrote a song referencing similar feelings

Dibble was a professional athlete.
Gresh was a back-up O lineman on a 1AA football team who talks and acts like he was a professional athlete
I never appreciated Mike Adams until Rob Dibble got his own show. Dibble was "best" when paired with Dan Patrick. Dibble trying to be Dan Patrick is horrible.  I'm happy to have a local alternative. And Joe D. is great and plugged in.

See, to me, the way to look at this is now Gresh gets a legit professional as a partner, and that might bring out a little better in him, as opposed to a total clown like Zolak.

Joe D does great stuff with UConn but he is obnoxiously anti-Sox. He's never gotten over 2004.
Go get 'em Gresh.
And yes dibble is awful

Traut what is this about Jacobs and interns?

I'm glad you asked, as I thought Traut was talking about DiMauro, and I was wondering what he did and why I hadn't heard about it.

Seriously. The bar for winning in Hartford is so low that there's a facebook group that gets very excited when Starbucks downtown experiments with being open on the weekends. Starbucks downtown. For real. Even Enfield has two and is getting a third Starbucks that are open 7 days a week.

NM.... Sleeping dogs and what not.
When you said Jacobs had an "intern problem" I was thinking more along the lines of "Slick Willie and Monica Lewinsky". It is funny and somewhat ironic looking at the article in retrospect and seeing how events turned out. I thought the article was slightly off base but to call Jacobs a schmuck is an over-reaction.

Interns and Jacobs? Nah. Dude has a face for print.

I've already received a PM telling me Jacobs is a great guy.

I listened yesterday for about 15 minutes before returning to my audiobook for my commute. I had never heard Gresh before; his voice will take some getting used to. They were talking a lot about the upcoming fight, which was refreshing, as I feared it might be Red Sox/Yankees cliche stuff and UConn for four hours (although I can't speak for the other three hours and 45 minutes).

A funny aside: Gresh made an offhand comment about the appeal of the fight that was probably the most risque thing I've heard on WTIC ever. I could almost feel Joe D's "uh-oh" flinch.
