It's a tough move to justify, though, when GRESH and Zolak are crushing "Mut and Merloni" in the ratings. Also, Felger and Mazz actually had lower ratings in January than GRESH and Zo did. Granted, a lot of that is probably explained by the simulcast, but it's even harder to explain firing GRESH when he's not on the lowest rated daytime show.
Managing a radio station is partially about handling personnel, and I bet it would generate some uneasy feelings over there if the host on a show that's winning its time slot was canned. As disheartening as it is to say, GRESH will be on 98.5 as long as Mut and Merloni host middays on EEI.
If I were EEI, I would admit the Holley and Ordway experiment isn't working, and return the programming to the way it was before last March. Dale and Holley would at least regain midday prominence. I think "The Big Show" is a lost cause, frankly, until Ordway's contract expires.
