Bleacher Report says it's worth up to $200 million.

Edit: it's a five year extension per Albert Breer. That would put him through the start of the 2024 season.

I have a newfound respect for Goodell's backroom politicking. Dude plays the owners like a fiddle.
Yeah, it's apparent that he is good at the parts of his job that actually make a difference for him. It's also apparent that the parts of his job that actually make a difference for him are the wrong parts, objectively speaking. But still.

Not particularly surprised. He's apparently good at the parts of the job that the owners care about ($$$$$) and he goes out there and takes basically all the public relations shots for the owners, Goodell being hated is a feature not a bug, it focuses as much of the inevitable negative attention on someone who isn't the owners.

Goodell really must know where the bodies are buried. This deal is a joke and they are completely overpaying an idiot who has made blunder after blunder.

I keep trying to picture a reality where he's Fredo in public and Michael behind closed doors, and the way he son'd Jones made that seems somewhat plausible, but it can't be so.... right?

Considering the way Goodell has handled everything, it's impossible to think he's Michael behind closed doors. For the owners to pay this buffoon 40 million dollars a year is just obnoxious and almost hard to believe. It's short sighted, irresponsible, and embarrassingly out of touch.

But it's Trump's America, the white idiot old guy just wins.

Seriously, can we keep the politics in V&N?

Last CBA was good for owners. Thursday night football had been a windfall. Tv deal got them more money. Owners cannot see past that and don't really care how much Goodell had to do with any of it.

I agree with this generally however it’s hard to understand how having a jackass as the public face of the league is really good for the NFL.

Jerry’s limb was as safe as a barber chair in the Park Sheraton (now Park Central) Hotel.

Roger fucked him up.

Given his guaranteed payments are in the single millions and must meet metrics approved by owners to reach the 40 million mark, seems more reasonable to me. If the NFL tanks in ratings he isn’t getting 40 million
