Watching Mexico-Costa Rica is tough.

Referee rewarding Mexico for going to ground on average challenges, but giving Costa Rica no credit for trying to play through typical Mexico clutch-and-grab defending.

I realized all my posts from the US game Weds were in this thread not the US thread, oops. Explains why it was so quiet.

1/2 watching - Panama carrying play though it seems for most of the first half. Having way more possession around the box compared to Jamaica.

Panama the victim of a brutal call for a PK. Jamaica hit a long ball into the attacking box, Jamaican attacker wins the header, but it was heading towards the sideline.

Panamanian defender had his arms up in the natural motion of leaping for the header, and it caught him on the wrist. Ref called it immediately, but it just felt wrong.

Ya. ouch. If that is the game really harsh.

No surprise there. El Tri is the most popular soccer team in the United States.

The two they played in MLS stadiums were at or near capacity, but the US had two cracks at NFL stadiums and couldn't fill them halfway.

Haiti has held Mexico scoreless through 60', so I'm tuning in, against my better judgment. Have they just been parking the ocean liner out there, or has it been more even?

California. Duh.
I've seen this movie enough times to know that Mexico will somehow stumble into a win here, but it's still rather intriguing.

Someone told the ref before the start of extra time that it was veeeery important for Mexico to be in the final.

I'm still annoyed at Mexico for blowing it in the semis to Panama 2 years ago. I went to the final and not only did I want US-Mexico, I bought my tickets before the semis. Could have gotten them much cheaper if I'd waited.

If there was any justice, that ball would have bounced down, hit Ochoa in the face, and gone in.

Haiti has a supersub on their bench from the Revs coming on.
Haitian-Japanese-American supersub Zachary Herivaux!

International Man of Mystery. Born in Japan, grew up in Brookline, played for the Revs academy, signed a pro deal, eventually played for Haiti internationally.

Naomi Osaka is his cousin.

Have we asked @jose melendez whether he has any soccer talent lately? I feel like we're not focusing on this market inefficiency.
