Backes is an actual cone and Wagner is hurt and has been since the end of the season. JUST LIKE PASTA!!! But Peter Cehlarik will lead then to glory.

Hope Marchand really enjoyed that cross check to the face that led to the game winning goal. Guess at least he finally got on the score sheet.
If he didn't deliver one himself, wasn't he a millisecond from receiving one to his own head? Kinda self defense, I thought, but I don't have replay. Anderson dove. Are not 6 of the last 8 PPs for CBJ? Or close to it?

Exactly. This is playoff hockey, suspending a player is a high bar. I do think he’ll be given a clear message that he is on a short leash tho

Marchand knows he’s not getting the benefit of the doubt from the officials. He’s gotta keep his head there.

Yeah that’s my view. Maybe a game in the regular season. Using the formula, that’s a paddlin’, not a benchin’.

I can't believe folks think it's mental for Pastrnak. How many times in the regular season did any backchecking forwards catch up to him on a break? It happened multiple times tonight, once by a floater in Panarin that started a full two strides behind him. The check he took which caught his ankle under him certainly didn't help tonight.

I wouldn't be against getting Wagner back in the lineup if he's ready to go and letting Pastrnak recuperate a bit, unless it's determined his injury is severe enough to keep him out for an extended period. I'd also sooner try Senyshyn in the top 6 than just slotting Backes in.

63 was pretty outstanding in the Toronto series, particularly with not making an ass of himself or getting unnecessary (or any) penalty minutes. If Marchand is suspended for G4, he brought it on himself and the team will suffer. Regardless of the outcome, it's not becoming of someone who's earned a consistent A on his sweater.

The league will follow the lead of the public/televised response and I assume the response will be over the top. Would be happy to be proven wrong.

We are talking about a league that gauges fan outrage on what they hear on the Fan 590 so you might have a point there.

If Scott Walker can sucker punch Aaron Ward, breaking his jaw, and receive nothing from DoPS, then Brad's sneaky little rabbit punch can go unpunished.

Yeah, I saw it in real time, and suspect that Brad will be sitting for Game 4. That was really stupid.... he even looked around to make sure the refs weren't looking at him before he did it. Dumb Brad definitely found his way into this one.
Hope it is only one game.

You can't bench Pasta during a game that Marchand will be suspended. You just can't.

He's been given plenty of messages in the last 4-5 years. Only thing clear is that he's not taking them seriously enough.

I’m not quite sure that’s a suspension level offense, particularly in the playoffs, but it’s a completely stupid, and childish play/risk to take on his part. Between this, and the idiotic penalty that lead to the game winning goal for Columbus, it’s clear to me that he hasn’t, and likely never will, fully grow up, embrace his role and importance to the Bruins, and drop the punk act once and for all. On the other big topic, Pasta does not look right physically at all. And the more hits he takes, the worse it seems to get. Of course, in a normal scenario, Wagner or Backes are a major down grade. But I think he needs to sit a game, and hopefully get right enough to contribute going forward. He’s killing them right now.

Not sure if anyone is advocating for benching Pasta due to performance. He needs to be in a suit if he cannot play well due to a physical issue. If you just watch him during a shift he has no burst and is going about half speed. It’s not a mental thing it is a physical thing.
