Gigi-- Ooh La La! (Would you start him over Turner?)

Gigi Datome's scoring has been startling.  I have no knowledge of his abilities in other areas, but the man can certainly score.

I stuck my head up in a game thread recently and defended Evan Turner.  I was quickly cut to shreds, and deservedly so.  Watching last night's game I saw play after play where Turner looked great -- good form, athletic move, etc., but the ball never seemed to actually go into the basket.  Gigi, on the other hand, looks a bit like what you expect a 6' 8" white guy to look like, but the ball always seemed to finds its way into the basket.

You're Brad Stevens.  When you get Avery Bradley back and thus no longer need Evan's ball-handling, do you start Gigi in his place?

I like Luigi.  Can't pretend I knew anything about him prior to his landing on the C's, but he's looked pretty capable in the past two games.  Certainly can't hurt if he takes some of Evan Turner's minutes.  I know Danny's had his eye on him for a long time, and In Danny I Trust.  Also, it's a great excuse to post this utterly fantastic number by the criminally underappreciated Faces:

No, but I don't start Turner either.
I'd probably run out a backcourt of Bradley, Smart with Crowder at the 3.
I'd be likely to give Gigi more of Turner's minutes sure, but I don't see him making the top 8 int he rotation (three above, Thomas, Bass, Olynyk, Zeller, Jerebko).

I'm as anti-Turner as humanly possible (might be my least favorite Celtic of all time), so I'd probably say yes. Or at least he should get some of Turner's minutes.

In actuality though, Luigi's D and lateral quickness do not seem NBA caliber. He tries hard, but he's already been badly burned every time he's out in space.

Of course if Luigi's keeps shooting like this, you can live with the D. But he's going to come back to earth at least somewhat, in which case it's hard to justify starting him. While Turner's D is mediocre and he loses focus constantly, he can at least attempt to match up with some of the wings in the league. I'm not sure Luigi can.

Having said all that... Selfishly I'd rather watch Luigi get try hard, hit some shots, look silly out there with his hair/beard, and get torched for 25 minutes a game on D as opposed to watching Turner brick shots, throw the ball away, randomly play D, and scowl every 5 seconds on the court.

That's known as Avery Bradley disease and Turner is not the only Celtic who suffers from it.

Gigi has earned a longer look - he hasn't yet done enough to rule out being a flash in the pan but it is worth giving him some time and finding out what he can do.  I think Stevens will give him Young's spot in the rotation.  I don't know how he is as a defender.

Gigi can't come close to defending starting wings in this league.. He's best used in spots where he is matched up against a 2nd unit non-scorer.
