Great. Now I have no reason to watch the Celtics.

Edit: To more seriously address the topic, I don't necessarily think he was helping the development process this year, in that I have questions about his attitude and how he fit in with the direction this team is going. His production was even worse than I anticipated as well. So it is a fair question as to whether giving his minutes to other players might actually improve the team's performance the rest of this season, thereby costing a few ping pong balls..

Nobody would take it without at least a first rounder attached anyway.

I doubt it. Wallace's contract was dead weight from the day he was acquired. His contract won't actually become an asset until the 2015 off-season. We'll have Gerald Wallace to kick around for another year at least.

You've heard of players that fill up the box score? Wallace empties it out.

Doubt it will ever be an asset, as terrible expiring contracts alone aren't worth much these days.  But in 2015-16, he will at least not be an albatross. At that point he might be included in a deal to make the money work without Danny having to sacrifice anything.

I agree with you that the injury is pretty meaningless.  No one was acquiring Wallace for any on count performance or ability at this point.  He's just a dead weight contract. It doesn't matter if he is terrible or injured.  His value is the same.

Wallace has been doing a lot of little things for the team. Boxing out, getting fouled on the boards, active on defense. While his play certainly hasn't been the kind you pay 10 million dollars for, I think he's definitely been a part of the ball club winning games. The top 3 pick initiative gets stronger with this.
