This time difference is brutal. Dark from 9:30-10am to 7pm EST every day. It's a drag and makes having the phenomenal NBC streaming app moderately useless.

Women's slopestyle final is a bit of a travesty, as they've abbreviated to two runs because of weather, and the wind is playing havoc with everyone's runs. Really sad that it doesn't seem like we're getting anyone's best here.

This Olympic Athlete From Russia horseshit is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard of in my life.

Is anyone else having trouble getting access to nbcolympics.com? I'm out of the country and using a VPN, but I can get some events, and others it just keeps asking me to log in again and again and again. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I've been DVRing NBCSN overnight to get as much live stuff to watch as possible. Of course, you then have to watch it right after you wake up, or try to avoid spoilers all day. It definitely isn't great, but there's not much that can be done about it. They're already pushing things a bit to give us some live stuff in primetime - anything you're watching at 8 PM Eastern is happening at 10 AM over there.

Yes, it's definitely not NBC's fault and I think their app is actually incredible. The time different is just too extreme, making the day time on the east coast useless. I watched the women's moguls yesterday at 7am on the app.

At 8pm, NBC's like, "Women's moguls finals, coming up." I'm thinking to myself, "I watched that 2 days ago." Or it felt like 2 days. Same with the men's luge.

Yeah, it's definitely rough on the East Coast - you pretty much have to stay up all night to watch most events live. At least when it's somewhere in Europe you can usually try to stream stuff during the day, even if primetime is never live. I guess this isn't too bad for the West Coast though - live stuff starts at 5 PM, then at 8 PM it's 1 PM in Korea, so you've got a good chunk of the day that's convenient to watch.

Are you using the app on a phone or the computer?

It sucks on the computer. It's not a internet issue for me, every other site is fine.

I'm using it on the Roku and on the Fire TV, usually simultaneously, and it has worked over 99% of the time. There was one point where it froze but it was brief. I haven't tried it on the computer.

Dumb in a “This is bullshit, Russia shouldn’t be getting punished”, way, or a, “This is bullshit, Russia is supposed to be being punished, but they’re pretty much all here anyway”, way?

The latter. Sure, not every athelete was doping but the team itself sanctioned doping so shut 'er down.

I knew it was going to be lame when Putin went along with it so quickly.

Seriously, when you host the Olympics and build a trap door at the drug lab to sneak clean samples in, your country should never host the Olympics again and should never be welcome to attend again.

(Chloe Kim just tweeted "Wish I finished my breakfast sandwich but my stubborn self decided not to and now I'm getting hangry" 10 minutes ago - during the competition. Badass.)

She's also got some savvy people advising her in terms of building a brand - she takes off her goggles after her runs to style for the camera.

It's been 4 days since it was sent, wouldn't someone have said something by now if he didn't send it? It was one of the bigger stories going into the Olympics.
https://www.yahoo.com/sports/shani-davis-speaks-opening-ceremony-drama-im-002502599.html
Additional comments from Davis and not denying the previous comments.

Shani Davis speaks out on Opening Ceremony drama: 'I'm over it'

“It happened for the better, I probably needed the rest anyway,” Davis told Dutch newspaper Nederlandse Omroep Stichting. “But you know, once every four years, my fifth Olympics, I thought it would be really special to hold the flag. I guess the USOC and other people thought differently.”

After missing the Opening Ceremony, Davis tweeted again, this time in more general terms.

”It has been such an honor to have represented the greatest, most diverse country in the world at the last five Winter Games during the same month as #blackhistorymonth #goTeamUSA Watch ‘Origins of Black History Month,” he wrote.

Panera or McDonalds or someone else needs to step and give this girl some sponsorship dollars.

Fantastic performance.

Halfpipe is like the winter version of the US 400m dash, it seems. Glad to see the baton passed so seamlessly. Kelly has been a fantastic torchbearer

Incredible. That's what the Olympics are about - she's undeniably the best in the world at that. By a lot.

Kelly got fucking porked tonight. The Americans should have easily swept the podium, but there seemed to be a plan in place to make sure that didn't happen. The Chinese boarder who finished in second with an 89.5 score wasn't close to any of the runs put down by Kelly, nor the final run by Gold. Americans should have went 1,2,3 based on the 1080 combos thye were throwing down at the top of the pipe. I have no idea how Kelly's third run didn't get her at least 3rd place, but it should have easily been good enough for 2nd.

Was anyone else offput by the commentator mentioning SEVERAL times that she is old? Like any time they mentioned her it was followed up with "SHE'S SO OLD AND CHLOE KIM IS SO YOUNG! ISN'T THAT WEIRD?!?!?"

These guys are just throwing out insane runs, and it's only qualifying.
I've stated before I Am not a fan of the X-Box events, but the Men's qualifying in the halfpipe was just an insane blast of athletes (all of whom had qualified already), just throwing their best shit out there out of pride and ego Just insane, and compelling stuff

California. Duh.
Shaun White picks up right where he left off yesterday.

He was so fired up that he took his helmet off and threw it into the crowd before he came to a stop at the bottom.

94.25 takes the lead with 2 more runs to go.

94.25 seems a little low.
Only the first run, the judges want to give themselves some room, I think. If he did that to end the competition, it probably gets closer to 98.

And...ouch. Japan's Totsuka came down from about 15 feet, hit the lip of the pipe right on his hip, then fell 20 feet ito the bottom.

Yes, typical judging, but I can’t imagine his perfect score run being much better than that. That looked golden.

White goes down on the 2nd run. He's in second, going to have the last run of the day to try and win the gold.
