Soton's Vestergaard drew a red card at 10 minutes for a desperate lunge to stop Vardy. But it's still goalless at the half.

The ref paused play at about the half-hour, just after the sun had set, so that the Ramadan-observant Fofana could pound a banana. Nice touch, haven't seen it in the EPL before. But then Rodgers pulled Fofana at halftime to get another attacker on - Perez.

Leicester should be all out going for it here, but look pretty happy to play keep-away at the moment.

I'll repost my latest grip with the referees in this thread since its the more appropriate one...

Another totally insane red card decision with some similarities to the West Ham-Chelsea decision. He (awkwardly) passed the ball and Vardy put himself into the path of the follow through of his foot. There has to be an understanding where if you go to kick a ball your foot is going to continue moving forward after striking that ball and if somebody puts themself into that space, its their problem not yours.

The Saints went up on a correctly called PK - which took an hour and a day to confirm by VAR - and then gave the lead back 7 minutes later.

Gifted a man advantage for 80 minutes, Leicester can only muster a point. They're still sitting well in 3rd, but a wasted opportunity here.

Maybe Palace is already on the beach but that was a very poor effort against Citys reserves. Will be interested in seeing what happens this summer there I think there are warning signs of a real weakness in that squad.

Words can’t describe how giddy I am to watch a United v Liverpool match where a Liverpool win secured the title for City or a United win may put Liverpool out of CL.

I mean you have to be rooting for us, no? You're going to win the title. But damaging Liverpool's CL hopes could put a damper on recruitment.

Sounds like a draw is inevitable !

I probably should be but that’s a hard bridge for me to cross. There’s no guarantee that a United win eliminates Liverpool and Citys next league match against Chelsea would be harder if there’s some need to close the deal. If I knew for sure that City will get by PSG I’d probably prefer to just settle the title tomorrow and try to focus lineups for remainder of season on CL final preparation

I’m really enjoying the blue & white vs maroon strips. Aesthetically pleasing. Brighton doing a great job executing their plan, too.

Potter has to be thinking “Harry Kane never misses those...”

That Trossard miss was brutal, he’s learning from Maupay. If Brighton could finish their shots they’d be more likely to be competing for a Europa spot then hanging around waiting to officially reach safety.

Coming into today:
Brighton: 45.9 xG vs 33 G (-12.6)
Maupay: 12.5 xG vs 8 G (-4.5)
Welbeck: 6 xG vs 4 G (-2)

Watching Brighton squander scoring chances with shots not even on target after seeing Aguero play one of his last matches for City earlier has me now thinking about how Aguero actually would be an interesting short-term boost for Brighton next year. It could only help with their league worst shots on-target percentage (26.9%).

Are you all seeing this? Protests on the pitch at Manchester United.

Edit: my sense is that the English have a much dimmer view of this than we in the US do. I think folks in this crowd are going to jail.

If I were the Glazers, and thank goodness I'm not, I'd think about forfeiting the game due to "security concerns"

aaaaaand they're back. Maybe I'm over-caffeinated, but I think there will be some class war takes this week.

Edit: I mean, people were already asking questions about why the football protests were not policed like the anti-police brutality protests from a few weeks ago.

Now a different group is coming in from a different entry? Total wreck. Have to push this match off until tomorrow, can’t secure the stadium today.

Good for them. That club has been utterly mismanaged for Glazer profit for years. What happened with Super League was certainly animated by their owners and if anything this may push British government to get more involved

So smug yesterday, but you didn’t realize how far United fans would go to deny City for a few more days.

I guess I'm just stuck with the Simpsons today:

"It sure is, Lou, it sure is... get the tear gas"

Edit: Robbie Earle says "[protest] the right way" Of course, the right way doesn't get them on worldwide TV.

Second edit: Sky Sports Reporter: "players always want to play." Ummm....

Third edit: Apparently 911 (999) is a joke at Old Trafford, too

Yup. Most fans would gladly take a forfeit today if it meant pushing the glazers out.

Now, it probably won’t happen anyway, but the local fanbase has always been a passionate one. It’s nice to see.

Some of these fans have spent time on the Old Trafford pitch than Donny van de Beek.

And Aub just slotted home a pretty flying karate kick for those not watching that side of the screen.

This Newcastle dude lifted his leg coming in for a tackle. Come on. Straight red is totally justified.

Why are United players taking a bus from a hotel to a home match?
