We’re back to the phase of the Mourinho cycle where he responds to conceding too many goals by putting out horribly defensive teams that are usually awful to watch.

But Everton seem pretty undermanned due to injuries, especially in attack. I'm not sure that I've ever heard of anybody on their bench other than Coleman.

Our chances of getting a repeat of that amazing 5-4 FA Cup match seem pretty miniscule. This one has "dire and defensive" written all over it.

Believe it or not, this a substantially stronger bench than last week! The Everton injury crisis, particularly in midfield, has been crazy.

That was a a painful start for Tottenham, Ndombele finally woke up and got a little fortunate his ball reached Kane, who buries his first chance to score.

1-1 after some more comical defending (and maybe some simulation from Hames, who appeared to kick the ground) on the other side concedes a penalty. Maybe 5-4 is still in the cards!

Honestly, I'd rather lose the lead right now instead of watching Everton have 80 percent possession for 50 minutes.

Everton have really outplayed Tottenham. Created a lot more chances and Spurs have zero creativity going forward.

Michael Keane registers his second assist of the night. Southgate needs to take that Keane-Kane connection to the England training ground.

To be fair, this has turned into a much more entertaining game than I thought. I can see either side getting a winner.

Lamela has just been brutal in attack. Had a couple times to play Kane or Son in and failed horribly each time.

GJGE Jose leaving Sissoko out there for 90 minutes with Dele, Bale, and Lo Celso on the bench when Spurs need a goal.

Tough for the Toffees. Better side all game, endeavor, fantastic goal from Siggy, but two horrendous fuckups from Keane and Holgate who have been solid all season.

CL hopes dead for both sides. Everton have a game in hand on everyone so Europa is still a decent shot.

The Hammers are in trouble at Newcastle. Down by two and a man at the half. Alan Saint-Maximin is really, really good and destroying West Ham every time he touches the ball. He’s going to make the magpies a boat load of cash this summer when they sell him to Liverpool

That's a brutal penalty but I'm also amused at how they are celebrating the penalty effort that went off the post. Um, sure, he meant to do that perfectly like that.

Chelsea have had slightly the better of things so far against City. Tuchel has them set up pretty well and City just don't seem the same playing with two holders in Fernandinho and Rodri, rather than with Rodri alone and two midfielders ahead of him. Pep has also rotated in other positions, which I guess he sort of has to given all their other fixtures in the next couple weeks. Even with their depth, it levels the playing field when half your team are clearly second choice players (Steffen, Mendy, Laporte, Fernandinho, Torres). I like Chelsea's chances of winning this.

Steffen looks a little shaky playing out of the back. Maybe something to watch.

I’ve watched a bit of Chelsea since Tuchel took over and they just drag every match into an incredibly boring malaise. City have played into it with a changed side and 2 holding mids but this has just been an awful watch

Pep basically wrote this entire match off. He didn't even use his substitutions to chase a goal despite having two DMs on the field and Mahrez and Bernardo Silva on the bench. I honestly think he'd rather lose than play extra time.

I’d rather have lost as well but that was concerning. Words can’t express how out of form Sterling is right now. It’s like playing with 10 men. City’s reserves have lost twice in a week and KDB left the match injured. Not exactly building momentum to close the season strong

It’s not so much the finish as the entire sequence. Messi is an artist.
