West Ham surprising me with how much of an edge is in their game. There’s a physicality and recklesness about the way they play which I didn’t expect.

great cross on his weak foot from KDB. He was absolutely wretchedto that point it’s almost like he decided his right foot is malfunctioning so he went with his left

Nice goal from West Ham. After stealing it in City's third, Coufal lays it off to Lingard to whips a pass to Antonio for a tap in.

Coufal reminds me of Zabaleta.

goal was coming. City picked a very unusual XI to rotate but paying a price in a lot of rusty players out there. Almost impossible for City to play withour Cancelo. Got pinned in with too many players treating the ball like a grenade and punished for it

Pep needs to do the difficult thing here and sub DeBruyne. He’s giving the ball away constantly nothing coming off right for him.

Really impressed with West Ham

Oh, so close. A great showing by the Hammers but an even better outing by City’s squad players.

I think West Ham are among the top 4 teams City have played. Maybe a patch of form but they’re going to make that race interesting

astride the divide
Brighton finding new ways to not score. Grob hammers a penalty off the crossbar, then Dunk catches West Brom napping with a quick free kick that was first denied, then given as a goal, then VAR'd off the board.

Liverpool have conceded from two set pieces where the ref blew during a wall set up. One was when Allison had just been sent off and Adrian came on to defend the ensuing free kick.

It was taken by Dunk.

Nuno’s Lee Mason rant looks a little prophetic in retrospect.

Not sure how Matt Targett hasn't been booked a second time at this point, 3 challenges which all could've been a second yellow - then again David Coote is the match official

anyone watching on Peacock experiencing a full minute lag? My Twitter feed spoils all the goals whenever matches are on Peacock. Perhaps BT/Sky social media ppl see the feed first

Yes, I was just complaining about that. I consistently get ESPN goal notifications a minute before goals happen on Peacock.

For the first time in a while Arsenal are the team that get the pk right before half to go 2-1 up

Willian is so bad. They scored that third goal despite him. The run he should have made to goal was so obvious that it was exactly where Odegard (near perfectly) played the ball. Willian had stopped running and then had to sprint barely caught the ball and was lucky his shot deflected past the keeper in front of the net.

Was it a shot? I thought he actually chipped the pass pretty intentionally

I just watched the replay like five times. I think he was trying to center it rather than shoot, but it was really lucky to result in a goal. Bounced off the defender twice and stopped basically right in front of the empty net.

I tell you what, the Scott Parker Premier League Experience might last into next season. Only three points off Newcastle and Brighton now. Be huge if he kept them up.

crazy thing is he looked completely over his head all season in the second tier, was tactically inflexible, slow to adjust during games, etc. then he completely changes his set up, stuffs Thomas Frank and a far superior Brentford team in a locker for the playoff final, and now has basically rejiggered his whole team on the fly to create what certainly is a Top flight caliber team capable of scaring anyone. No offense to our geordie friends around these parts, but they haven’t earned another shot at the premiership after their performance this season.

This is where your knowledge of the lower leagues really comes into play.

No idea why José is playing Kane and Son the full 90 in a match like this.
because there’s only 3 subs and they at least got decent rest from being out of the Europa game.

Bale - still could use management
Lucas - runs himself into the ground both sides of the ball
Aurier - recently hurt

You’re not wrong that Son and Kane are being ground down though. Son in particular, since he had no injury enforced absence.

I thought that was one of the clearer handballs this season - CHO's hand was extended away from his body in an unnatural position, ball wasn't traveling at any pace / wasn't fired at him, VAR had the on-field official stop play to review it.

Fast forward to the review, Azpilicueta and Hudson-Odoi are berating the ref as he's watching the replay, no penalty given.

I still don’t know why it was a free kick to United but it would have been a bs call imo. I think Greenwood pushes him arm up anyway but the game doesn’t need that as a penalty. Everyone involved is facing away from goal and there’s not just no intent there isn’t even awareness

this is a great match for those who love a causal kick around with friends in the park.

It’s so boring. Chelsea trying to play it out from the back with a crap defense. They need to sell some attackers and revamp the back line
I should clarify - it’s a great match to turn off the TV and meet up with your friends for a casual kick around.

I fell asleep without intending to somewhere around the 15th minute. I woke up in the 51st and thought I had dyslexia. This is awful.

In a vacuum, given the lack of intent, I agree the game doesn't need that as a penalty - but given what has been called as recently as the past couple of matchweeks for handball, I can't figure out the rationale for ruling it out. Putting my insufferable Liverpool supporter cap on and going back a few weeks, a ball caroming off Dier's hand onto Firmino's arm at midfield nullified a resulting Liverpool goal.

I guess in this instance, given VAR stopped play and had the ref take a look, the system itself worked - but there continues to be no consistency match to match, official to official, etc.

Yeah well I don’t care. Screw Fulham and their pedo statue. And I say if the players can scrape enough points despite Steve Bruce as manager, then it will have been well earned.

Adrian gets the start in net with Alisson out presumably for bereavement, and Kelleher injured.

Jota was streaming himself playing FUT last night, but is apparently out ill today. Kabak / Phillips the CB pairing at SHU

edit: some LFC sources saying Jota is having a scan for appendicitis, I mean at this point what can you say
