Banned from booze and the Internet for life for possessing and transporting child pornography, former Boston television star Robert “Bob” Gamere was released from federal prison yesterday at age 74.

“The Great Gamere,” as he was known in his hard-partying heyday in the 1970s and ’80s as a sportscaster and host of “Candlepins for Cash,” served 4 1/2 years of a five-year sentence he received in January 2010 after pleading guilty to the charges in 2009.

I remember in the 80's when Candlepins for Cash regularly had higher ratings than the Sox and just about any other televised sport in the Boston market.

I forget, is he the pterodactyl or the turtle?  Either way, it seems like asking for trouble just to let him out.
