So many people think this will be a canter for Liverpool, but it wouldn't shock me if Utd turn up...any win will suit me.

Rivalry games are always about just getting the points. Mac Allister looks like he is rejuvenated from his mini break.

It's a shame Szoboszlai isn't well cos we could do with his energy and pace. I think we'd have more joy in the transitions with him on the pitch - it's a bit laboured as it is. Trent hasn't found his range. Fair play to United, they're compact when Liverpool are in their final third.

2 attackers on. Slot feels it can be had. But last time he threw on an extra forward, guys were getting in each others’ way. Have to keep some spacing.

I hope Trent has an agreement already with Madrid. He seems checked out. Virgil is glaring at him

Which club will be next to try to turn De Ligt into a world class defender & end up disappointed?

Darwin needs to be removed from this team. His stupidly was cute for awhile but he’s just a ponytailed liability.

Trent is clearly going and they should be lining someone up for the January window if this is the effort we’ll be getting the rest of the way.

Playing your way out of town is not the legacy Trent wants to leave.

I can’t get over how horrific Darwin is. The only thing he does is track back and disrupt. He’s disconnected in the press, he can’t finish anything reasonable, he breaks the offense down regularly by wandering offside, and he stirs shit up to light a fire in his opponents. He’s an absolute cancer.

Ugh. Could have gone either way and I think zirkzee would have been off if Maguires went in but man I’m spent.

Bruno gets a lot of haters but he was the best player on the pitch today. What a display.

First game in a while I've seen Utd play for the badge. I felt they'd be up for this one...encouraging signs but they need to produce this kind of form and effort against the so called lesser sides.

Yeah. I mean on the feed I watched they kept comparing to Newcastle game. We also started Eriksen Casemiro and Zirkzee. Today it was Mainoo (good), Ugarte (excellent) and Bruno (excellent).

I’d argue we had another VAR howler on the Darwin yellow card. Looks at De Ligt, targets the head, no intent to play the ball. How was that not reckless or endangering an opponent?

California. Duh.
Slot has usually been very solid on making subs, but he left Konate out there too long given that he had one full day of training. He must really not like how Quansah has been training.

ARS-NEW League Cup semi leg 1 underway for those with Paramount+. Both teams are shorthanded and have decided to compensate with MOAR RUNNING so it's pretty frantic. Newcastle started better but Arsenal have dominated the last 10 minutes or so.

FAKE EDIT: So Newcastle then score while I was typing.

ARS 0-2 NEW now, very much against the run of play. Newcastle officially in a 5-5-0 per the hand gestures of the latest sub.

EDIT: And that's the final. Legit shot for Newcastle to make the final and have a shot to break the 70-year trophy drought.

Audio from the Duran red card last week. TBH everyone but the on-field official (Taylor) does the right thing, but not a great look. They are making match- and table-affecting decisions on pure guesses.

Even better was the FA rejecting Villa's appeal of the 3 match ban. Clown show

Liverpool and Spurs today in their semi-final leg for the League Cup.

Personally I think Liverpool should just let us have this one--think of how many points we've taken off City over the years.

Both teams put out strong line ups with some rotation from the weekend. Kinksy gets his Sprus debut. Tsimikas is back for LFC, while Trent gets a breather to get his shit together.

Tottenham Hotspur (4-3-3) Kinsky; Pedro Porro, Dragusin, Gray, Spence; Bergvall, Bentancur, Bissouma; Kulusevski, Solanke, Son.
Substitutes: Austin, Dorrington, Johnson, Lankshear, Moore, Olusesi, Reguilon, Werner, Yang Min-hyuk.

Liverpool (4-3-3) Alisson; Bradley, Quansah, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Jones, Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Jota, Gakpo.
Substitutes: Kelleher, Endo, Konate, Diaz, Nunez, Chiesa, Elliott, Robertson, Alexander-Arnold.

Bentancur looks like he KO'd himself trying to flick a low header on and hitting his head on the ground instead.

Kinsky looks more than competent with the ball at his feet. Unfortunately I don't think we'll be seeing any foot saves on shots from outside the area.

Ugh, Quansah off with some sort of discomfort - calf or hammy?

What happened to Bentancur to warrant 11 minutes of stoppage time?
On a corner kick he looked like he was trying to flick a header on, and the ball dipped and cut away from him as he went for it. They never showed a replay but I rewound the live feed and it looked like he landed head-first on the ground while trying to contort his body. The view wasn't great but he may have landed jaw-first and KO'd himself. He didn't move at all when he landed and players from both teams were waving the medics on pretty quickly.

They were understandably careful in getting him mobilized and on the stretcher, so it took time. Quansah hurt himself later in the half which tacked another 2-3 minutes on the stoppage time.

The Guardian reports that Bentancur has remained in the locker room to get treatment, as in not rushed off to the hospital for something scary and severe.

edit: update - he’s awake & chatting, but heading to the hospital for tests.
