This Cashner trade is top notch stuff.

Top notch.

Next pitcher they acquire needs to be banned from contact with any other pitcher and kept in a hermetically-sealed chamber whenever he is not needed so he doesn't immediately contract The Suck.

Some truly atrocious abs today

Wouldn’t want to be DD. Selling is probably the right move, but it will never happen

What the hell happened to Benintendi? I figured he'd take another step forward this year. Instead he's become a barely usable MLB player.

Sell what exactly?
Whatever's not nailed down?

In all seriousness, it's Porcello, Benintendi, Martinez, and Vazquez who are the most obvious choices. Moreland is almost back, so if he hits at all he'd be an option before the deadline. Maybe dangle Barnes. Try to ship out Hembree. If they're going to sell, get rid of anyone who is not in the long-term plans and, in the case of JD, someone you have a chance to bring back if he opts out. If he insists on playing in the field or he won't re-sign, shake his hand and say see you later. No need for a guy whose back is that bad while insisting on activities that not only make it worse but make your outfield defense worse. Make Chavis the full-time DH since he's not the greatest defender anyway and use the savings from Martinez's contract to go out and get some guys that can give you a chance at winning another title in the next couple of seasons. I might even consider moving Price if Porcello isn't getting any kind of decent return (which he probably won't) and just spend on pitching in the off-season.

But I'm not a baseball executive and am probably talking out of my ass.

This is a huge question as it relates to the future of the franchise. Hopefully the FO has some answers bc he’s a pretty bad player when he’s not getting on base with occasional pop (seemingly a bad base runner and nothing special in the field)

They have pieces. JDM, for one.

Porcello won’t bring much, but why keep him?
They'd need to trade guys who are free agents after the season so they're not hurting the 2020 team when they're obviously looking to contend. Upcoming free agents they have to trade are Porcello, Pearce, Moreland. Either bad or injured, or both. Really no relievers to trade. JDM has little to no trade value given his poor season by his standards, his contract and the looming opt out, and the fact he's a horrible defender so he's mostly limited to DH. They might as well keep it together and hope they can figure it out and go on a run even if that keeps looking like it's not going to happen this season.
