Yes. They were bad hits but not out of their way Matt Cooke hits. It happens with physical teams. That also wasn’t a slew foot. It was a misplayed battle for the puck that was a tripping.
Watch the replay of the Savard hit and watch the replay of Johanson getting hit.. nearly identical.
Blues hit high all series and often had the butt end of their sticks up high...and head hunted all series. It's disingenuous to simply call it physical.

And to say that was a misplayed puck battle.. dude stuck his knee out and took the guys legs out with his stick..

Yeahbut - you don't count on your goalie to stop only the ones that hit him, he needs to stop some that have a high degree of difficulty.

To be fair to Rask, there is no game 7 if he doesn't do that throughout the playoffs.

To be fair to everyone, Binnington did and Tukka didn't tonight.
I'm not taking away anything from Binnington. He was great tonight when he had to be. Rask did stop some that had a high degree of difficulty tonight. He just got hung out to dry too many times and unlike other games this postseason did not bail them out every time.

You know, this just hit me...what the fuck ever about me as an individual. I've seen enough good shit. But fuck man, I wish for Haunted's sake especially they could've had this. Like, if there's anyone who deserved this win tonight, it's him. Wish you well, man.

Okay. So long as we’re doing video comparisons, compare that to the slew foot Marchand got suspended for.

Completely sober...which makes this more fun.
I honestly do not think the Blues were better tonight, they won, but they did not play better, which is not that unusual in the NHL.
There’s a difference between not playing better and not deserving to win.

They were physical. They weren’t dirty outside of the end of Game 6. They outphysicaled and played shutdown D. Bruins in 2011. I honestly feel no ill will towards the Blues.
They’d were headhunting in game 1. Blues deserved to win but they laid a lot of dirty shots on the Bs the whole series.

They were filthy. They had two players suspended in a Stanley Cup Final and left their feet on an absurdly high number of hits, one series after knocking out three guys with head shots.

Come on with this.

Offensively, throughout the series they were inconsistent in how they attacked Binnington. At home, they seemed very tight and passed the puck too much when they could have shot it too much. In STL, they seemed to be much more aggressive shooting the puck and pounced on the rebounds which turned into goals.

As far as the physical play by STL, they toed the line and went over it a little bit. But tonight, it was not a factor. They just got outplayed.

very disappointing, the Bruins were the better team, tonight and in the series, but puck luck and the refs etc. This team should only be praised for their resiliency in the season and the playoffs. Who knows what injuries they played through. Congratulations to the B's and get them next year

The overpassing was something that plagued them all post season. But they’d rectify it, either mid game or the next game. Tonight they never got it together enough to capitalize.

Badly blown opportunity tonight. That's what hurts; the B's had the talent, but couldn't put it together and lost 3 of 4. The Blues were physical, sometimes dirty, but that wasn't the cause. The B's looked awful all of Game 5 up until the trip on Acciari. And too many mistakes tonight.

I don't see this core being able to do it again. Tampa has a much deeper roster and will be back and will be looking to atone for this year's fiasco. I think this loss will be too difficult for them to recover from that easily.

Basically this. They figured out the line. Crossed it a few times as physical teams are wont to do and the B’s have done in the recent past. And with that they beat up a more skilled Bruins team. They sacrificed two games from 4th liners to do so. I can’t be angry at that. Didn’t like the Barbashev hit but the Sundqvist one was dumb but not predatory IMO. Anyone who thinks Bozak’s was a slew foot is stupid.

Yes they usually had a period of the cuteness then would come out and make adjustments and it would work. Not tonight. The 2nd goal completely crushed them it seemed. They just were never in sync and you could tell with the passes that were not connecting. STL just parked people in the neutral zone and layered up.

I wonder if this is it for Chara. It just seems like all he has left is being tall. Even before he broke his jaw he was lumbering around not being much of a factor.

Never seen Marchand this emotional before. I got to think with what guys like him, Bergeron and Chara were playing through that they especially wanted this one. Also must feel some responsibility in giving up that 2nd goal. These guys fought their asses off and to lose a championship in this fashion is a complete gut punch.

He just signed a 1 year extension at a discounted rate due to the B’s cap so it would be a real dick move to retire and saddle them with a 35+ cap hit. He’s not retiring.

Marchand need only look in the mirror - he didn’t do what was necessary to prevent goal 2. He also almost certainly broke his hand in that hare-brained fucking public scrimmage.

I’m ok with the Bruins losing if they didn’t have the guns to keep up like in 2013. I’m not ok with letting a SCF G7 at home slide because of avoidable injury. Fucks sake, a fucking PUBLIC SCRIMMAGE like they’re the globetrotters or some shit

Cherish 2011 is the biggest lesson I’ve taken out of tonight. Teams with all the means in the world can literally go 50+ years without even getting to the point the B’s were at tonight, let alone winning the Cup.

This. So much has to go right for you to even be in the finals. The fact that they’ve been to three and won one without multiple top three picks in their prime is awesome.

Amen. We are kinda spoiled as Boston fans recently.
Most cities would kill to even have the chance to be in the finals, let alone a G7 at home.
Winning championships, despite the last 20 years, is generally a rare occurrence.

It sux to go out w 3/4 losses at home. But it was an amazing year.
Better teams dont always win, just ask all the Pats opponents.
Blues finished G7 and the Bs didnt.

It was far more than one or two plays in a game. At certain points, it was one or two plays a shift.
Sure. Whatever. Dirty plays isn’t why they lost. Physical play is. Sometimes that went into dirty and the Blues paid the price by getting guys suspended and getting roasted on the PP. But if the Bruins couldn’t overcome the loss of their #5 defenseman, there were greater issues at hand. Which there were. Like the first two lines not showing up.

they concussed at least 5 players this postseason with headshots....
So why couldn’t the Bruins overcome it when they only lost their #5 defenseman? The previous games have nothing to do with how they played in the SCF. I also have no idea what the other 4 concussions were but not every hit that leads to a concussion is inherently dirty. I don’t think the one on Gryz was a dirty hit. Happy it got a game but if it didn’t I wouldn’t have been ripshit.
